CHICAGO, Sept. 6 -- Former governor George H. Ryan, who won global attention for emptying Illinois's death row, was sentenced to 6 1/2 years in prison Wednesday for a decade of tawdry corruption and official lies that he minimized to the end. . . .

Ryan stands convicted of 16 counts of racketeering conspiracy, fraud and lying under oath. He plans to appeal.

Let's see if the republicans criticize Ryan for lying under oath like they do Clinton. Come on, let's see if you all are bipartisan when it comes to people who lie under oath.

Talk about pure scum. I love it when people like him get caught.

I can't stand Ryan and am happy he is going to prison. I do think they should build a special prison in IL just for politicians. They could easily fill it.

I used to be able to get WSL radio from Chicago on the internet, I can't now, and I enjoyed hearing the scandal du jour from Chicago.

Governor Ryan deserves his jail sentence. But, are the liberals as happy with Governor Ryan now as they were when he emptied death row?
