WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Former FBI Director James Comey on Monday accused U.S. President Donald Trump of undermining the rule of law in the United States by lying about the FBI, and he urged Republican lawmakers to “stand up and speak the truth” about Trump’s behavior.

Comey, who was fired by Trump in May 2017 while he was leading an investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 U.S. election and possible Trump campaign collusion, made his remarks after his second appearance this month before two House of Representatives committees.

He's correct. That he's a Republican, and he's calling out the obvious unethical work of House Republicans, Trump, and the rest of the Republican leadership for essentially being terrible Americans, is refreshing.

Even Trump's own new Chief of Staff desperation pick, cannibalizing is other positions, this guy also called Trump a terrible human being. A Republican...in Trump's administration, who now serves as chief of staff. Mind boggling.

I don't believe Comey is still a registered Republican. He's been an Independent since 2016. See https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/James_Comey

You know, I have no doubt that Russia has long spread money and honey around to members of both parties to gain leverage if ever and whenever it was needed. That is reasonable to conclude.

The US and other nations no doubt attempt to do the same. It would seem that Russia has been more aggressive and perhaps more patient, however, and it has paid off.

Lately, I'm wondering if Russian efforts have produced results favorable to Russia among members of the GOP. For a while I was convinced the GOP was putting party above country. That may be true in some cases. But more and more I am beginning to believe Russia owns one hell of a lot of GOP officials in DC. Trump is one, of course. The useful idiot. And to help assure his assery successfully causing untold damage to the American republic Russia seems to have reminded more than a few GOP that they are owned.

It's entirely possible. There's also the Epistein undercurrent. Dershowitz went there, and the guy that gave everyone immunity in that child trafficking farce is on team Trump.
If recent history is any indicator, that Republicans are embroiled in healhty doses of both (probably with a random Dem or two thrown in), is entirely plausible. How many crooks do they already have, just with the very, very narrow Muller investigation? It's raining felons.

He's wasting his time and his breath. Decent Republicans (like me) have left the party because they won't stand up to Trump. They deserve every nasty thing that has happened to them, both in the midterms as well as for generations to come.

I predicted 2 years ago that Trump was going to wreck the GOP. I was right. But they enabled him, so they deserve it.

Of course Trump undermines the rule of law. Everyone with 5 working brain cells knows it.

That is splitting hairs, Comey spent enough time as a Republican which suggests a disagreement with today's party. Regardless, I agree with Mach in that it is refreshing to see someone challenge what they see in a party they once were part of.

Comey said the Russian dossier was not the basis for the start of the Mueller investigations. Then he said on another question he couldn't remember the basis for the start of the Mueller investigation. If he did not know what the basis for the start of the Mueller investigation was how did he know it was not the Russian dossier? Comey could not remember over 240 times in a 250 page interview. I think Comey must be suffering from early Alzheimer's.

Yet it was the Obama administration that took a cooperative and friendly position with Russia

Yeah! How dare they march. They should be subservient to whatever Daddy told them to do.

Of course you can post some pictures of his wife and his daughters wearing these pink ***** hats, right? Not other women at the march. Them, like you claim here - that they were wearing those hats. I'll wait.

Excellent point. Epstein seems to have spread the joy around to the uber wealthy and most powerful, ensuring his immunity. Yes, Dershowitz, Clinton, Trump, Prince Harry and a laundry list of notables reportedly frequented Epstein's mansion in West Palm Beach and his private island. I read that there were many, many names on the flight manifests of Epstein's jet. Interestingly there didn't seem to be any notable powerful or politically well placed women. I think there is am obvious reason for that.

No doubt many of America's politically elite are under Epstein's thumb. Russians too? I don't doubt it. Has Epstein hinted to all these people that he has dirty pictures? You know he has. Who is getting blackmailed for what?

No, you actually can't post pictures, because they weren't wearing those hats on the march. You lied.

Now, I can spend the day 2 days listing all the things Trump has done to undermine the rule of law. Let me start out with two examples. His constant and ongoing attacks on the DOJ. His comments on birthright citizenship. There are 2 right there for you to get started with.

No, let's see those pictures, or let's see you admit you lied about them wearing the pink hats.

Maria Butina knew which American political party Russia should court, that's for sure.

The important part of the statement was the fact that they attended the Woman's march [notice the shirts they are wearing] not the joke about the Pink pu*** hats .

You took poetic license with your statement as did I. Comey's wife and kids were on Hillary's side perhaps that is why Comey felt compelled to put his thumb on the scale and conduct a SHAM investigation of Hillary. He over stepped his authority and the rule of law and it cost him his job.

Yeah, but where are the pink hats?
Why, do you want to lend them yours?

Its HYSTERICAL that you two think the hats are the serous part of that statement. :lamo The important part was that Comey's wife and kids openly supported Hillary and I find it likely that Comey himself wanted Hillary to win also.
