Evidence Teachers are Indoctrinating, not Teaching

So, this Fall, virtual class discussions will have many potential spectators - parents, siblings, etc. - in the same room. We'll never be quite sure who is overhearing the discourse. What does this do for our equity/inclusion work?

The tweets go on with Mr. Kay pointing out his concerns. Responses from several teachers at all levels explain their own "fears" of how this might affect their...let's says it plainly...EFFORTS AT INDOCTRINATNG STUDENTS.

So now we have some evidence of where all this dystopian ideology causing the kinds of outbreaks seen in our streets these many days has been coming from.

Literally YEARS of Marxist/Socialist "teachers" insinuating themselves into our schools; filling our children's heads with anti-American, divisive grievance ideologies.

When I see things like this I think there needs to be something done, I just don't know what it should be.

One thing I do know...Public schools are not supposed to be political indoctrination centers. Grade school should be teaching reading, writing, math, science, health, and a smattering of extra curricular activities designed to engage kids in fitness and personal interest outlets. Colleges, with courses that teach the basic skill sets necessary to prepare them for their chosen future livelihoods.

Honest question: Now we have clear evidence it is happening. So how do we deal with this?

In my experience, that's always what they've been. A public schools job is to teach the government sanctioned curriculum. That's indoctrination.

The problem is, as the video points out, these teachers are hiding their actions...and fear that with online classes people who they don't want to know what they are doing WILL find out.

They are trying to figure out how to deal with this "hurdle" and still proceed with the indoctrination.

They are too busy dealing with with issues as varied as their "physical development," developing relationships, and peer issues. IMO the last thing most kids will do is talk to their parents about school...even when asked "how was your day."

Public schools in a democracy can't be apolitical because they influence who will be in charge in the future. "Apolitical" curricula will tend to be driven out because they (by definition) do not produce voters who will support them.

Perhaps a regime that was explicitly non-democratic and had been so for at least a human lifetime could have "apolitical" public education, though such regimes don't tend to have public education in the first place.

I was a Teacher for 3 years back in the late 80's and early 90's. I taught Life Science, and History. Grades 7 through 10. I never taught nor was told to teach my students anything at all "political."

Now when I was in High School myself, we had to take Civics, either in our second semester 11th grade, or as a senior. But when I was a Teacher, they weren't teaching civics, at least in my California school system

Let me dumb it down for you. Parents will probably be looking in with their kids in their virtual classrooms. When they do so they will be listening to what the teacher is saying to the kids. Should the teacher bring his personal politics into the classroom, spinning a history lesson for example, he'll be outed for a leftwing indoctrinator in a NY minute. Conversely, the same goes for far right educators who want to spin history with their own religious beliefs.

There's somewhere around 3,500,000 teachers (Public and private) in the USA. I suppose it's possible that they all got together but I feel that the truth is some teachers "bleed" their political leanings into the classroom no matter which political party they endorse.

If you taught history, then I'm quite certain you politically indoctrinated your students. Though there may have been a broader popular consensus behind what you taught versus what's taught now.

If you expect elaboration from "How was your day?" that is your first mistake. Adolescents open up plenty about their school days if parents take enough interest. The problem is that most parents do not do so, especially as it has become more common for two parents to have to work and see their kids less and less.

Additionally, parents should be taking a more active role in finding out what happens at school by speaking directly with teachers on a fairly regular basis. Parent-teacher conferences are not the only time that should be occurring. The more parents speak with teachers, the more likely these "hidden" agendas will be revealed, either directly or through a slipup.
