Weird. My friend who is a mother of a West Point Grad loved it. The other friend, father of a soon to be Naval Academy Grad (x2, if you count the fiancee) also loved it...although not as much as the Army mom, for obvious reasons. The Dad of the BlackHawk pilot wasn't as enamored. Of course, his son's MOS just got changed radically due to the gutting of the black hawk program, so there's that. And he hates Trump...which is probably the overwhelming reason for the like or dislikes on this one.Weird…my US Army Ranger Vietnam Veteran FIL thinks this parade was an absolute disgrace and disrespectful treatment of our military.
(He also has a few choice words to describe the draft dodger President who threw it…he’s not a fan of draft dodgers)
Thankfully someone played fortunate son during the parade though I doubt Trump has any clue what it is aboutIf it was a celebration of the Army, why did they sing happy birthday to the rapey felon BEFORE the National Anthem?
That was precisely my take on it.Indeed, the troops on foot were loose and sloppy. Their posture was relaxed rather than alert and focused. It's apparent to me the grunts were going through the motions for the Generalissimo. They were not taking it seriously. The West Point contingent of the cadets looked like they were strolling along together rather than marching.
I told You People late last year that we were going to **** up your MAGA.The conservatives around here just need to shut up and admit the success of the No Kings protest. Because of the selfless sacrifice of so many liberals we managed to depose the American king without even an ounce of bloodshed. Things don't get much more successful than that!
I like the way WaPo suggest that Trump wanted one thing and got another. It's typical of the anti-Trump propagandists.NO matter what critics say about the parade, the Wash Post said it best. It was a good history lesson and an inspiration for those young people who wish to serve their country in the best possible way. A great propaganda tool to get more people into the military when they are needed the most.
I am proud of our military and the time I spent in uniform.
The Israelis have it right. Everyone should serve in the military to understand that all citizens have a duty to defend our country against those countries who wish to diminish our strength and importance in this world.
Unfortunately, there are a number of posters who share that distasteful belief because they do not understand the goodness and importance of our great nation.
Trump wanted a military spectacle. Instead, he got a history lesson.
The parade must go on, and the Army sidestepped a major crisis of image and messaging.

The Army’s 250th birthday parade was not the grand military spectacle that many anticipated, and for that Americans can breathe a momentary, measured sigh of relief.
It was a family-friendly conclusion to a celebratory day, with events on the Mall and fireworks at the end. What had been billed as an overwhelming display of military might turned out to be a linear history lesson, from the early days of revolution to the age of robotic dogs and flying drones. A narrator made sense of it all over loudspeakers and for those watching the live stream on television, with a script that rarely strayed from the Army’s disciplined sense of itself as a lethal fighting machine in the service of democracy and the Constitution.
The soldiers who paraded past the presidential reviewing stand on Constitution Avenue walked with a loose-limbed gait, disciplined but not robotic, with individual soldiers integrated into the collective without losing their identity. Those riding by on tanks, trucks and other combat vehicles waved and smiled, engaging with an enthusiastic crowd. The announcer often sounded as if he were narrating a fashion show for machines rather than a military parade. The Bradley Fighting Vehicle: “It is fast, it is tough, and it is lethal.”
The people that tend to frequent these threads absolutely hate America
It is not.
While we can be sure there was no order to these troops to slough it through, it's clear these troops can march better than they did.
Indeed, there are ways the chain of command can get the word around to the troops that slacking it is the expectation of the day. Doing this kind of military parade is anathema to the Army and to the USA armed forces. Doing it for the Generalissimo HimSelf is difficult to stomach. Hence the lousy show of marching.
What do YOU know about the Army?Or maybe that’s just the state of the Army these days.
Probably more than you. What do YOU know about the Army?
Not at all. You seem to believe that soldiers are idiots. (suckers and losers). They are not. They knew they were required to be there. They knew this was their one way to show what they thought of the rapey felonious draft dodger. Well played, Army. Well played. It’s more plausible than a CT that they were ordered to be sloppy.
Does that CT comfort you?Not at all. You seem to believe that soldiers are idiots. (suckers and losers). They are not. They knew they were required to be there. They knew this was their one way to show what they thought of the rapey felonious draft dodger. Well played, Army. Well played.
Oh, so funny.Probably more than you.
The armchair general and keyboard warrior wants to talk about stolen valor?Oh, so funny.
You going to play Stolen Valor now?
The Army doing some definite trolling of the MAGAts there.Thankfully someone played fortunate son during the parade though I doubt Trump has any clue what it is about
21 years in the Navy. Retired Naval Aviator. The armchair general and keyboard warrior wants to talk about stolen valor?
Oopsie....someone run away?21 years in the Navy. Retired Naval Aviator.
and you?
Too busy scouting for officials nodding off to watch the parade?Alas, Dozin' Don zonked out twice during his dull, monotonous and boring birthday parade by the Army which served up its revenge cold.
Shown first is he and Melania standing together while Dozin' Don does a Mitch McConnel zonk out while on his feet. The Major aide de camp to Gen. Dan Caine chairman of JCS has to come over to wake the unwoke C'nC to tell him it's over and that he can go home now and cut some Z's.
The second round of Z's by the Potus/Commander in Sleep is while he sits on the review platform as the parade passes by tortuously slow. The commander in sleep nods out. His double chin sinks down and forward as he snoozes. Of the two secret service agents sitting right behind him, the bald guy at our right takes notice, wonders what to do, then gives the C'nC a bit of a nudge, only to revive him halfway.
The host of Occupy Democrats doing this his show has much more to include about the garbage at the event.

Hegseth The Horrible looked completely zonked too but in a deep trance, probably enjoying himself as a Knight Trumplar.
The bottom line is that the Generalissimo Dictator Trump can't even do an all military birthday parade right that as far as He is concerned is all for Him. Bastille Day it wasn't. It was more like watching paint dry which seems to have been exactly the way the Army and armed forces wanted it.
Listen my friend and you shall hear that I'm a military parade freak from way back so I did in fact watch the whole disgusting nonsense and I did it without having to use my at the ready barffbag. The repeated camera views of Trump on the review platform to include his stupid saluting was the most repugnant part of the Generalissimo and his B-Day.Too busy scouting for officials nodding off to watch the parade?
You didn't like it. Neither did others in this thread. We thought it satisfied the Army's celebration just fine.
I would probably watch Mash thinking the junior guy that lied about his age to get enlisted because he wanted a girl just doesnt know hes going to get the chance in a few more yearsThe only reason to watch a parade is the clowns/
Only this one the clown is in the stands....so **** it. I'll be watching "I Love Lucy" reruns.
