And then the question hung in the air, if the sanctions were such as they were scaring, they would allegedly completely erase Russia from the economy of Europe, the World and the Galaxy, turn off SWIFT, banking systems and water supply... what then will stop the Kremlin from a complete military takeover of Ukraine?

Russia has an estimated minimum $75 trillion in natural resources and is awash with money due to the price of commodities and Oil and Gas in particular.

But the EU has no Gas with winter reserves already ca. 95% used .

Putin could rip the EU economy even further and leave Sleepy looking like the grinning idiot he is and even more of an embarrassment to his people .

You will probably hear a lot of hot air and drivel because the only winner will be Russia . By a knock out .

Sanctions don’t matter unless they are enforced by China.

There's always more we can do to you. You were warned and your fascist dictator for life decided to do it anyway. Now you get to suffer the consequences while he enjoys the tens of billions of dollars he plundered from you and the rest of the Russian people.

Keep your grubby, vodka drenched hands off of other people's shit.

Okay.

Funny writing... keep yourself in hand, don't humiliate yourself and don't get personal.
The GDP of Russia is ranked #57 and your median income is behind small third world countries like Costa Rica. You guys provide no relevant economic activity and its only going to get worse now. No worries, Putin's castles and yachts will be fine.

As important as the gas station of Russia is to the US and the world, Ukraine's grain store is, too. Putin will take that grain. Economic action against Russia must be now and harsh. Better late than later or never.

Em... did you read the question before you wrote it?
There are no terrible sanctions... where the answer lies on the surface, if they are introduced, the tanks will reach Lviv...

The United States, with its grandiose GDP, shamefully stumbled over its allies and fled Afghanistan... these arguments about your income in the light of recent events look like... inappropriate.

Compared to the USA, great. The Soviet army went out with proudly raised flags, withdrawing equipment, and the government of Afghanistan still fought for several years with the Taliban... while NATO fled in panic, throwing equipment and people, leaving military equipment crushing the landing gear of people's planes, and the US-backed government fell even before the evacuation of the last American soldiers.

The difference is, the Soviet army came out, IT ran... perhaps this is not the field on which you can play.

Your entire country collapsed. Seeing as how America hasn't broken into 50 individual countries I'd say we did a shit ton better.

And how does this relate to the shame of the United States in Afghanistan?)))
That our country didn't collapse and cease to exist after Afghanistan shows we pretty objectively did better than the Russian clowns.

Talk to me when your GDP passes Nigeria and your median income passes Costa Rica. You're from a 3rd world country, so maybe you shouldn't throw stones from your glass house.

Something exploded somewhere?)))

All these insults are very entertaining, but they do not explain the shameful flight of the United States from Afghanistan.
We are Nigeria, beggars, orcs and all that... okay... just didn't run from the Taliban.

Question

Sanctions have always been difficult to implement throughout history. Or mode history anyways.

Olaf the Bundeskanzler today pulled the plug on Nord Stream 2. Poland is already complaining before Olaf's ink is not dry that it is not enough. Turns out the Poles maybe right. There has been such a hue and cry over Nord Stream 2 that the inert pipeline assumed an importance far beyond its present impact on the any economy. Someone forgot to inform the sanctions warriors that Nord Stream 2 is not operational. And the EU has even rushed to calm waters by assuring everyone that Nord Stream 2 is not an alternative source of energy, just another method of delivery; Russian deliveries are still up to what Russia cares to ship.

It then begs the question: if Russia is a gas station, and sanctions avoid hitting gas, how effective then are the sanctions?

Maybe that is why the Poles are already turning up the heat on the Germans.
