The EU is ready to take action “against those responsible” for violence and the falsification of election results in Belarus, the bloc's foreign affairs chief Josep Borrell warned Tuesday. “The elections were neither free nor fair,” Borrell said in a statement.

By imposing sanctions on individuals it is hoped that Vladimir Putin will not blow a fuse.
