In Europe, Dyed Foods Get Warning Label ~ Newsroom ~ News from CSPI ~ Center for Science in the Public Interest
I don't have much to say on the matter, other than that Europe just seems to care more about its citizens and their food safety. They aren't scared off by big business pressure and they will regulate additives as needed. Self-regulating industry is an oxymoron. If you let an industry monitor itself, no real monitoring gets done most of the time, and nothing gets done for the public good if it is not first and foremost in the interest of profit. Government shouldn't be scared to put their foot down, especially on something that is black and white.
More importantly, this isn't even a ban, just a label. People have the right to know what harmful things are in their food. Why can't we follow their example?
