BREAKING: Garrison Keillor says he's been fired by Minnesota Public Radio over allegations of inappropriate behavior.

Keillor would go on and on about how mean and evil he thinks conservatives are, and here we find he's pretty mean and evil himself. Coincidence? I think not.
I used to enjoy his shows on NPR. He sure did turn out to have a dark side, though.

Had no idea about his politics. Sorta looks like he ousted himself...? He is one strange looking dude.
He's old and retired from his show, which has been taken over by another guy. I never found his style to be terribly entertaining, so I didn't listen to his show much.
It seems like anyone who's anyone is getting the finger pointing now. Glad I'm a relative nobody. I can't remember doing anything abusive, but if I was famous I'm pretty sure someone out of my past would think up something.
This is actually getting tiresome, but I do thank Trump for getting the ball rolling. Looks like all of his anti-PC ***** grabbing stuff is working. Or something.
Liberals tend to have higher standards for themselves. What is flawed by liberal standards is still pretty good by conservatives.
If the story is true, it sounds like he went to pat a woman on the back to say congratulations and didn't realize the back of her shirt was open. Not exactly grabbing women by the ***** because they let you when you're famous.
I think people have just ignored (because we all know, most women have dealt with this stuff at one level or another) just how prevalent this kind of behavior is in our society.
It's been endemic, going on for all recorded history and before. Males seeing what behavior and how much of that behavior will get them sex.
Putting men on the short leash is not going to work out as we expect.
Of course you cant force men to respect women. That comes from a good upbringing and decent character.
Hence the consequences we are seeing for such inappropriate behavior is a good thing.
Raising men that dont feel that respecting women = letting them get over on them certainly should be a parental goal.
All too often now "respecting women" means "Never being in the vicinity when a woman feels uncomfortable if one is walking around male".
That's a problem.
If it's a problem for you, I guess you might consider why your presence makes a woman uncomfortable.

Injustice is of course a problem for me, a mans feelings must matter as much as a womans, and feelings are not what the law regulates, actions are.
Females do it as well. Even when I was a teenager back in the 1970's women/girls did things to me that are now seemingly enough to cost you a job. I did my share of "coming on" to women, but I was really cautious about it. I actually usually let them make the first move most of the time.
.
No one disputes that, there's no injustice. Where has anyone said men cant have feelings?
Of course, we all know men cannot just act on their feelings without considering those of others. (Nor can women)
Yup they do. In some cases, I think it's a matter of women thinking, 'hey if the guys can do it, so can I! Let's see if they like it!' Problem is, as a poll and thread here on the forum just indicated...men often enjoy that. Not all felt victimized.
At the same time, I am not excusing it.
That's true, but then why so often now do we see women coming forth with the claim that man gave them bad feelings and the instant call from the mob is for him to be beaten?
There is no interest in fairness when the feelings of the woman is the only thing that matters.
Yes, I agree. Men aren't generally physically intimidated/scared by women. I never felt like a victim. I don't believe I ever made anyone else feel like a victim. I sure hope not.
As to the "men can do it, why not me" thing, that may be true. I took it more as them thinking a guy would never reject an "offer" from a woman, so there was nothing at risk in going for what they wanted. Maybe that take was unfounded.
Being the victim of sexual harassment and abuse is marginalized to 'bad feelings' according to you.
I can see why you feel women are uncomfortable around you if you express this or behave in a similar manner. If you feel that way, look to yourself siince it's not likely they feel that way about all males.
And again, no one says only the feelings of women matter. If you are now afraid to be around women, again, you should really examine yourself.
I'm sure that some people in a role with power, male or female, abuse it. Probably less so for women, we probably do so by other means than using sex.
I am not marginalizing sexual assault, I am disputing the modern definition, I claim that it is abusive towards men.
Why do you keep wasting space trying to talk about me, someone you know next to nothing about? Could it be because you have a weak argument?

Back when we were better we did not blame other people for our feelings.
We knew better, feelings come and go on their own.
No one is to blame for feelings.
