"I believe in redemption or I wouldn't be doing this job ... but based on the legal standards, we find that you continue to pose an unreasonable risk to public safety," Parole Commissioner Robert Barton said.
There are arguments for both sides, but there was no imminent threat when this 18 year-old mercilessly shot his mother to death. Good decision IMO.

Yes, they had no right to kill their parents for any reason. Taking a life is serious business, and a very sad outcome. Happy with this call, enough violent nutters roaming the streets ."I believe in redemption or I wouldn't be doing this job ... but based on the legal standards, we find that you continue to pose an unreasonable risk to public safety," Parole Commissioner Robert Barton said.

A California parole board has denied parole for Lyle Menendez, who was convicted alongside his brother of murdering their parents in 1989.
The parole board also denied Erik Menendez parole Thursday. The decisions are a crippling blow to both brothers after a yearslong fight for release.
Despite the board’s ruling, Lyle Menendez still has hope of walking free. California Gov. Gavin Newsom has the rare power to reverse parole decisions, and the brothers are separately seeking clemency and a new trial.
Their sentence never should have been downgraded in the first place from life with no possibility of parole to 50 years to life with the possiblility of parole, because of California's youthful offender act that was enacted in 2012, and made retroactive. These guys will always be a danger to society. Life without parole was the correct decision.

This was cold-blooded 1st degree murder. Maybe they were abused, but they were 18 and 21 years-old when they killed their parents. At that age, all the had to do was walk or run the **** away.
