Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan reportedly told President Trump last Friday that his country would handle the remainder of Islamic State forces in Syria following a U.S. withdrawal from the country.

NBC News reports that a senior White House official says that Erdogan personally promised to Trump during a phone call on Dec. 14 that his nation's military would effectively neutralize the remaining ISIS forces operating in Syria, which is estimated to be around 30,000 militants between Syria and neighboring Iraq.

I'll bet that Erdogan didn't tell Trump that he'd finish off our Kurdish allies while he's at it.

First impression, there's a lot of lines crossing with Trump and Turkey lately....Michael Flynn, Syria, Saudi assassinations... we are dumping our allies in Syria because of a phone call and no consultation with the military advisors. This has to lead somewhere...it cannot be totally random...can it?

Hey, it's not like the Kurds can promise Trump a tower in some country, why should he care about them?

I don't see how Erdogan can freely attack ISIS without crossing areas controlled by the Assad government or Iranian-backed Hezbollah, unless he has already negotiated an agreement with them and the Russians to carve up Syria.

I'll bet that Erdogan didn't tell Trump that he'd finish off our Kurdish allies while he's at it.

If he wants to help Russia and Syria with ISIS, more power to him. Let him be Assad's headache.

Erdogan will have to deal with Saudi Arabia if he wants to mess with the Kurds.

Saudi Arabia and the UAE have sent military forces to areas controlled by the Kurdish YPG group in north-east Syria, Turkey’s Yenisafak newspaper reported.

The paper said the forces will be stationed with US-led coalition troops and will support its tasks with huge military enforcements as well as heavy and light weapons.

Quoting the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, the newspaper reported that a convoy of troops belonging to an Arab Gulf state recently arrived in the contact area between the Kurdish PKK/YPG and Daesh in the Deir Ez-Zor countryside.

This comes at a time when Ankara is preparing to launch an expanded military operation with the Free Syrian Army against the Kurdish PKK group in the northeast of Syria.
