So!

72% of our troops say let's get out and the hell with staying as long as it takes? Cool!

Which proves Congressman Jack Murtha WAS speaking for the majority of our troops.

End Iraq War Soon, Most Troops Say In Poll

February 28, 2006

WASHINGTON -- A Le Moyne College/Zogby Poll released Tuesday said that 72 percent of American troops serving in Iraq think the U.S. should exit the country within the next year.

The degree of support for the mission was different according to various branches of the military, Zogby found. Eighty-nine percent of military reserves, 82 percent of those in the National Guard and 58 percent of U.S. Marines say troops should leave Iraq within a year, for example.

Seven in ten of those in the regular Army thought the U.S. should leave Iraq in the next year. About three-quarters of those in National Guard and Reserve units favor withdrawal within six months, while 15 percent of Marines felt that way. About half of those in the regular Army favored withdrawal from Iraq in the next six months...

Results were made public on Zogby's Web site. The survey included 944 military respondents interviewed at several undisclosed locations throughout Iraq, Zogby said...

The thought just occurred to me...

The troops are getting restless, can a rebellion be far behind?

Viva la resistance!

Surprise Kid, I agree, let's bring our boys home!;)

Really?

Any strings attached?

Fine print?
We have done our job, it's up to them now, and if they squander this opportunity, they will be the ones to pay the price in the future, and that price may very well be a serious one.

I just got the Zogby email, with a link directing me to the poll site, and was about to start a thread, when I saw this one.

The actual poll is here.

I agree with the troops. Bring them home.

"A majority of troops (53%) said the U.S. should double both the number of troops and bombing missions in order to control the insurgency."
The troops want more troops

You missed part of that paragraph:

“There appears to be confusion on this,”

Also, from the poll....
The poll, conducted in conjunction with Le Moyne College’s Center for Peace and Global Studies, showed that 29% of the respondents, serving in various branches of the armed forces, said the U.S. should leave Iraq “immediately,” while another 22% said they should leave in the next six months. Another 21% said troops should be out between six and 12 months, while 23% said they should stay “as long as they are needed.”
Different branches had quite different sentiments on the question, the poll shows. While 89% of reserves and 82% of those in the National Guard said the U.S. should leave Iraq within a year, 58% of Marines think so. Seven in ten of those in the regular Army thought the U.S. should leave Iraq in the next year. Moreover, about three-quarters of those in National Guard and Reserve units favor withdrawal within six months, just 15% of Marines felt that way. About half of those in the regular Army favored withdrawal from Iraq in the next six months.

Well that's understandable. Even if they are only there for another year or less, it certainly does not benefit them to be spread even more thin. They are so severely undermanned and the civil war is escalating.
You know, it's almost too bad that the Rumsfeld doctrine of a small force attacking a large country doesn't work. If it did, we could overthrow governments here and there without a great deal of bloodshed or expense. But alas, Powell was right, an occupation requires a blitzkreig.
At this point, I feel that the question on our minds should simply be how to get our troops out without having them slaughtered. That should be our top priority.

Not enough troops to begin with is their point. Not enough troops to do the job right. They are asking for help!

Bush was told he would need more troops from the beginning.. did he listen? nope.

If it was your *** getting shot at routinely while your own country's media gleefully tallied the body count and propagandized against you with a chorus of pundits, columnists and politicians regularly lying about and smearing you and your mission you would want the war to be over ASAP too.

As eager and excited as the patriotic left must be to get another chance to demoralize the troops (who they care about so much), demean the mission, and gleefully predict failure, they are going to have to wait until the Iraqi Army can defend the country themselves. This president and this country is still well aware of how badly and how perpetually Democrats dropped the ball with Al Queda, N.Korea, and Iraq. There is no way in Hell we will ever take their "retreat, grovel, and appease the bully into submission" strategy seriously...thank God.

Surely you aren't claiming that YOU know what the conditions are like better than our soldiers do? If things really are as bad as the media makes them out to be, then the soldiers have every right to be demoralized. And if things are not as bad, and it's just "propaganda" from "treasonous Democrat pundits," surely the soldiers could see through it since they know the conditions first hand.

So how could the media demoralize the soldiers with lies? The soldiers can judge the conditions for themselves just as well as the media can.

I'm confused...are you saying that 72% of American soldiers want to "appease the bully into submission", or are you saying that they're too stupid to look out the window instead of watching pundits describe conditions in Iraq?

Fortunately, our troops are not the bunch of girly-men that you dittoheads make them out to be when the going gets tough.

Just because you extremists hate "Freedom of the Press" and "Freedom of Speech" doesn't mean our troops feel that way, in fact that is why they are fighting in Iraq, for your right to be-little and debase them behind their backs.

"We"? What do you mean by 'we'? If you are such a "patriot" why isn't your *** in Iraq fighting alongside our troops?

Damn chicken-hawks, the lot of you!
