Elizabeth Warren - The Dems are going to Screw Themselves Again

I'd like to but your earlier responses were way too full of histrionics and CT for me to even think about doing that right now.

Translation: Your pride is hurt. You know I'm right.

Oh, you are adorable. Hillary was the true winner of every debate against trump. She is light years more qualified to be president than trump. He looked like a total dick in the debates and at all his ralllies, but Hillary was so nauseating to so many people we ended up electing trump anyway HRC had a superior resume'. We need someone who can make trump look like more of a dick in comparison, someone who is young, witty, and yes, qualified, but someone who can out trump trump. I'm telling you guys I know I'm right. 2016 was not that long ago, people!

I said before, just superior qualifications do not matter in American elections. Look who we just elected!

Question: if 10 democratic canididates run in the primary and Elizabeth Warren is among the top four candidates seeking the democratic nod, would you have a problem if she was among Democratic voters top 4 candidates?

Independents weren't the reason why Hillary lost. Lower turn-out among key Democrat voting blocs is why she lost. Obama lost independents in 2012 by a slightly larger margin than Hillary did in 2016, and yet he STILL won by five million votes. Why? Because Democrats came out strong for him, including in the three blue states that Trump barely won over Hillary. Had Clinton been able to match Obama's numbers in 2012, she would have been president today.

Why didn't the Democrats come out strong for Hillary? Do you think they'd have the same lack of enthusiasm for another "Obama type candidate" as they did for Hillary? I'll say it again. Elections are beauty contests. Warren, although qualified is not "beautiful" in a way that appeals to voters and Hillary was not, either.

They didn't come out strong for Hillary because they didn't like her. Plus, they underestimated Republican support for Trump. Now that Democrats have had a taste of the disastrous Trump presidency, I HOPE that gives them enough drive to come out strongly for the Democratic candidate in 2020, regardless of who it is. If they don't, then we are stuck with Trump or another Republican president for at least 4 more years.

No! I think she's great! I think she's qualified! I think she'd help shape the Democratic platform and would become a real player behind the scenes to help the Democratic ticket win, just as long as she's not on it.

I think she even might be slightly more qualified than Betsy De ****ing Ross to be Sec Ed, don't you?

Warren. I like her, but she waded into that BS about her being part Native American. There are going to be ****ing "Pocahontas" posters pasted over everything from now until 2020 when she loses.

Pick someone cool and without baggage Dems! One of the San Antonio twins, Gavin Newsom, Tulsi Gabbard, ANYONE BUT SOMEONE WITH TONS OF EASY PICKINGS LIKE ELIZABETH WARREN. Sure, whoever runs the GOP dirty tricksters will find something, but it won't be as easy as it will be with Warren.

When they tilted the scales for HRC against Bernie they totally ****ed themselves. They're about to do it again.

I feel powerless to stop it. So depressing.

If you accept the regular slander against Warren as a legitimate criticism of her, then be prepared to hate every Democratic candidate there is, because the slander isn’t going to magically stop with her.

Whatever dude. You're going to need a bigger bait. And you're already playing right into the hand that 4chan is playing again.

So when you're ready to prove to me that you're ready to have a civil discussion without ERMAHGERD DNC RIGGED ct's and self-flagellating purity tests, feel free to let me know. I'm waiting on you.

No, my kitten sticking out her tongue when she gets pet is adorable. And I said nothing of "qualifications," lurchadams. I believe the office of the Presidency has long ceased being about anything that one might regard as "qualifications." It is about image, platform and perceived character.

While I do agree that Hillary was nauseating to many people, myself included (for different reasons than yours, I am sure), I am not sure anyone can truly "out-Trump" Trump, nor that anyone should try. He is a unique brand of shamelessly narcissistic and combative raconteur that I do not think can be matched through affectation. And even if someone manages to successfully recreate Trump and truly be a no-holds barred hostile populist left-wing demagogue...if I am forced to choose between two Trumps, why shouldn't I pick the original article that at the very least occasionally effectuates conservative policies? Or just stay home if I am forced to pick between two utterly unprincipled guttersnipes?

If independent voters care so much about who will be the democratic nominee, they would have joined the Democratic Party and vote in the primary.

I want the Democratic nominee to first win the votes of democratic primary voters first.

Democratic voters are tired of Biden’s, of Cuomo’s, of Bloomberg’s, of whoever the beltway is swooning over.

Let democrats elect democrats.

Dude you're being obtuse. Never would I believe any slander the GOP would put up against Warren but it's not me that needs to be convinced. I'm sorry that you like me so little that you think it's ok to twist my words.

Republicans slandered her, she proved them wrong, and in response they slandered her even harder. The premise behind your OP appears to be that this is in any way her fault, or that it’ll be any different with another Democratic candidate. If my interpretation is wrong then I welcome you to clarify your point.

You had up until

someone manages to successfully recreate Trump and truly be a no-holds barred hostile populist left-wing demagogue...if I am forced to choose between two Trumps,

and I was going to give you a like. I don't want an asshole demagogue as our nominee. I want someone like Obama. Someone cool Someone who can motivate voters like Obama did and like Hillary or Warren could and cannot. Someone with wit for when trump calls them a "nasty man" or "nasty woman" they can come back with something funny and classy but that could make him look like the horrible prick he truly is.

Whatever. Bernie was the more appealing candidate of all the Dems in for 2016 and the Dems establishment ****s screwed him. They went for the establishment candidate. Warren doesn't have either the pazzaz or the spontaneous wit to out trump trump.

Bernie would have won over the independents who went for trump against Hillary, I'm certain he would have. If it wasn't for the DCCC we'd be looking at a Bernie presidency right now.

I can't believe I'm about to use a trump phrase, but I feel like the system is rigged and we're all just patsies thinking we're really in control of our own destiny

do you really believe that many Americans are enamored by socialism? especially coming from a guy who lives like a feudal lord?

It doesn't matter if Pocahontas was her fault or not. It's not her fault she's not a cool character like Obama. It doesn't matter whose fault it is. If you think that only qualifications matter in elections then why isn't Hillary Clinton our president?

Dude. Put down your partisan hackery for a second and help me out here. I'm trying to sound the warning bells that history is about to repeat itself and all you care about is bashing Dems.

Either tell me why I'm wrong, why I'm right or leave me alone, please.

I am asking you an honest question. You believed Bernie could have won. I am skeptical based on what he stood for

For one thing, Elizabeth Warren has not exactly sewn up the Democratic primary by getting the entire party to back her prior the Iowa caucuses.

Oh, I'm sorry. You were talking about Bernie. Yes, I know you're worried about him being a socialist but that guy had a following. Even though he's an older American he would have been much more appealing to the rust belt folks that went for trump over Hillary, IMO.

I am asking you an honest question. You believed Bernie could have won. I am skeptical based on what he stood for

Bernie probably could have won in 2008, as I think any Democrat, even one perceived as a so called "socialist", would have won. But in 2016? I'm not sure. He actually had worse support among minorities than Clinton.

It doesn't matter if Pocahontas was her fault or not. It's not her fault she's not a cool character like Obama. It doesn't matter whose fault it is. If you think that only qualifications matter in elections then why isn't Hillary Clinton our president?

Just get behind the candidate who inspires you the most instead of worrying whether some other candidate is “cool” enough. Then, after the primary, get behind the candidate that wins. Being united wins the 2020 election. The winning formula is literally that simple.

Tomorrow genuine oversight of the executive branch begins. Take enjoyment in that.

<sigh> You dodged the question. You're thinking like an establishment dem, Card. You put too much trust in the low information voters who went for trump. Look, the attacks against Warren have already begun and she hasn't even announced.

The “establishment” formula, getting behind the primary winner, wasn’t followed in 2016 and as a result we lost. Divide and conquer was used by republicans and the Russians and it’ll be used again regardless of who wins the primary. Just keep your eye on the ball and don’t let republicans ruffle your feathers.

Its early days yet, lets see who throws their hat in the ring. I believe Warren may be a better spot in the number 2 position to appease the progressive wing of the party. I would look for a centratist at the top of the ticket.

Just vote for whoever is the Dems candidate in 2020, regardless of what anyone says. If you and enough Democrats do that, Trump and the GOP will lose. Don't repeat the mistakes of 2016.
