In addition to the DNA test, she released employment documents over the summer to show she didn't use ethnicity to further her career.~~ Using an open records request during a general inquiry, for example, The Post obtained Warren's registration card for the State Bar of Texas, providing a previously undisclosed example of Warren identifying as an 'American Indian'. Warren filled out the card by hand in neat blue ink and signed it. Dated April 1986, it is the first document to surface showing Warren making the claim in her own handwriting.

Her listing her race as 'American Indian' refutes any attempt at saying she never claimed to be Native American. But you're right on both points, A) her defenders will go on making excuses for her, no matter what, and B) a Republican who'd lied repeatedly about being Native American would find themselves out of a job. Heck, Republicans themselves would toss such a person overboard.

Kind of a complicated question. As with most lefties, I don't think they are in it for purely personal reasons, other than they have an agenda that they (falsely) think will be better for the country and the end justifies the means of getting there so anything goes. Lie, cheat, steal, run over your mother with the car, take down a lifelong good man fellow Democrat who owns a retail coffee chain, anything. As long as the country is better off in the end it justifies how you get there. I don't believe they are in it for personal glory. All hail socialism.

I support Warrens policies, in the same way as I support Bernie. Bernie was my #1 choice in 2016. And I'd love to see Warren's policies implimented.

But I must admit, this looks pretty bad. She did this with one of the highest documents in the land, her bar card. It's really hard I think to see this as a minor exaggeration. It's serious stuff. And she also did it with her Law School application to boot. Which is another major transgression, IMO.

I see Bernie as being a more highly principled person than Warren, even if I don't agree with a lot of his political positions. I guess I'd be shocked to a greater extent, if someone like Bernie misrepresented a core attribute of his being, while potentially taking opportunities away from actual minorities. That's the part I don't understand about some people's willingness to overlook Warren's behavior; when a white person impersonates a minority, it often takes away an opportunity from a genuine minority who may be edged out of a job, or a government contract.

I think Warren is indeed driven and true to her cause of financial protections, and despite her mess here I can't really speak to her integrity otherwise. But it definitely was lacking in these matters.

And I very much agree in Bernie appearing principled, and I saw him as possibly the most principled of the substantive candidates in 2016. But did you know he & his wife have possible ethics and financial improprieties, with their involvement in a small New England college? So, no one is without blemish. We all have our flaws.

Interesting development, and not in a good way for Warren. There are aspects of her policies that I favor, but lying like this is really bad. It's one thing to say you have Native American ancestry in your family and another to claim that is your race. I'm not sure how she bounces back from this, and whether she should.
