DMs have eliminated this provision of the rules:

"Understanding that at times members may need to vent, a new area in The Basement called Where's my Binky has been created that is exempt from 6a and made specifically for members wishing to rant about Moderator action."

They have replaced it with the practice of erasing messages by members they don't like or otherwise with their own message instead. Accordingly, that statement in the Rules is inaccurate and should be clarified.

I do think it would be a good idea to have a place on the forum where members can complain of moderator actions in their own words. That doesn't exist. It used to. I do not think it necessarily should be in the basement and having it out of the basement would limit complaints to actual complaints and legitimate civil discuss of it - not just the generally worthless diversions that basement threads devolve to - if the actual complaint isn't just erased by a DM.

I also do not think DMs should be allow to erase or rewrite members comments about moderators unless the comment clearly violates a rule such as being porn. The Binky board essentially no longer exists for what the Rules say is it's purpose due to that practice by the DMs. I do not even understand the theory behind DMs being allowed to erase or rewrite members comments about moderations as those have NOTHING to do with DMs.

My specific suggestion:

1. Do not allow DMs to alter members messages on the Blinky board, and/or

2. Clarify that this feedback board is where a member may make CIVIL complaints or comments while strictly remaining within the rules about moderation actions.

The primary rule is "Enter at Your Own Risk". Edits happen to maybe 1% of posts and deletions are even more rare, in fact I don't think I've ever done that except at member request (for like dupe threads, etc.) There are plenty of "Blinky" threads there (mostly by the same people) so obviously it serves it's intended purpose.

By the way, not one of us has ever edited any thread in any fashion on the "Blinky Board". I don't even know what or where that is.

It's a conspiracy man.

And you are clearly part of it...

If you think a mod action is unfair or unwarranted, you can contact the mod team to seek a resolution. If you're a whiny bitch, you can make a Binky thread. Simply because you're an attention whore and feel the need to make your complaints public doesn't legitimise the complaint, nor excuse the fact you're utilising an area specifically designed for whiny bitches.

The Rule itself states the purpose of the Binky Board - and specifically you deleting Binky Board OPs is diametrically the opposite of that stated purpose and a denial of that purpose. The stated purpose in the rules is to allow members to "vent."

However, I am also suggesting allowing a means for members to civilly and with the rules also discuss issues about moderation, meaning not in the basement. The "rules" of the basement essentially state the basement exists solely for the few DMs.

The stated purpose of the Blinky Board is exactly opposite from the stated purpose and goals of the Basement. The "Blinky" board should not be in the basement OR civil and within the rules complaint or suggested changes of moderator actions (not just forum feedback) should be allowed on this non-basement board in addition to the basically worthless Blinky board.

You are very aware that DMs have entirely replaced members messages with their own in the basement. This thread is not to argue with you about it here or at all. I am making what I believe is a legitimate suggestion to have a place for members to "vent" or otherwise make complaints or comments about moderation in a sincere and civil manner within the restraints of the rules, not the deliberate "chaos" by the basement "DM gods" as stated in the Basement Rules.

Specifically, I am suggesting that moderators, not DMs, supervise discussion of moderator actions and that such discussions be under Forum rules, not Basement rules. In a legal sense, I am suggesting "jurisdiction" over discussions of administration and moderation be taken from DMs and given to moderators and administrators.

Having DMs "supervise" - and for the purpose of causing "chaos" - of topics of forum administration and moderator in general makes no sense, does it? Why should DMs control such discussions? It should be forum administration and moderation in control.

The Administrator should not allow any moderator to edit any post unless required to remove illegal or banned content.

I'm not trying to argue with you either. You've alleged that OPs have been deleted. I'm saying that I haven't ever done that (unless at user request). I want to be clear here, the last time you said something had been deleted it had not been, it had been relocated in it's entirety to a different thread.

As far as your suggestion, how is it different than what was suggested here?

Moderator's Warning:
You know where to go if you want to discuss moderation and it isn't in the feedback forum. If you choose not to vent in Binky there are other options available and the way you can officially address them is with a private message (PM) to Vauge, a Moderator, or using the Contact Us dispute process. Each and every PM will be read and investigated and we will get back to you.

Closing this down before it ends painfully for someone.
