Efficacy of the wall

The unintended consequences of the "wall' debate if the comedy gold of listening to Democrats make an argument for not spending Govt money on something that is not csot effective.

What is there to say? There are no soundly compelling arguments to that effect.

This thread is to debate the efficacy of Trump's proposed fence/slats/wall on the US and Mexico border. It is NOT for debating the efficacy of ALL walls. It is for the one, particular wall that Trump is seeking funding to build.

I submit the following articles to support the idea that such a wall would not be very effective and would be poor policy.

Remember this thread is about Trump's wall...not the Vatican walls, or the Israel wall, or the wall around Obama or Pelosi's house. This is a thread about the arguments of why Trump's wall will or will not work. Truth is some walls are more effective than others. Some are more "moral" than others. This thread is about how sound the arguments are that this specific wall will be effective given the circumstances that pertain just to it.

We are going to spend what 20-25 billion dollars to build a wall across the Mexican/American border. Yes we have fences for over 700 miles and those have been built near population centers where most people try to cross the border as that is where the coyotes live and prosper. Maybe we need to maintain those fences if they are working, but so we are going to spend the kind of money it takes to build a substantial wall, as it will take more than a fence outside the well patrolled cities, to control the small number of attempts outside the well populated areas even if they are effective. I do not think so. The areas outside of population centers are better controlled by modern methods. I hate to think of the cost of surveilling and maintaining a wall of any kind from damage from the coyotes who will do so to make it easier for them to do their trade. And none of this will stop the import of hard drugs to this country or the slave trade as they come across the border at ports of entry.

So it's "sides" in your world. Your "side" is big on the Bible, but none of you mention Jericho.
