A 69-year-old Dutch man has failed in his attempt to legally declare himself 20 years younger.
Last month, motivational speaker Emile Ratelband filed a lawsuit against the Dutch government requesting that his date of birth be switched from March 11, 1949, to March 11, 1969.

Actually.....Im rather surprised the Dutch courts declined his request.

Me too.

After all, isn't just about everything merely a social construct? And if everything is a social construct, then isn't everything also malleable?

So why can't someone simply declare that they are actually 20, 30, 40 or more years younger than their birthdate would indicate simply by counting years?

We can't have factual biological changes which occur with aging (or any other biological facts for that matter), interfering with our personal worldviews about who and what we are, now can we? Of course not.

A simple declaration of personal belief should be sufficient. (/Heavy sarcasm)

Hey, it's Europe. He should have claimed he was 49 in metric years.

Wouldn't Age be considered a social construct? Hell, there are likely more people that truly feel younger or older than their age than there are trans people.

He self identifies as a 40 year old, instead of as a baby boomer.

Clearly the court is filled with a bunch of Agephobic bigots.

Reminds me of the Canada who had his ID changed to say he was female for lower insurance rates.

lol -- am I the only person to notice WHY he wants to change his age? That's the best part!

Ratelband initially wanted to drop two decades off his age in order to improve his chances on Tinder.

“I feel much younger than my age, I am a young god, I can have all the girls I want but not after I tell them that I am 69,”

He should try the time-tested classic method for getting laid: just lie.
