In America, equality means equality before the law and equal opportunity. Why are you against providing equal opportunity for all of America's students? I'm not okay with missing the next Jonas Salk just because the student was born in the wrong zip code.

Equal opportunity means when you are born in this country you have an opportunity to become whatever you want - whether it be Martin Luther King, Will Smith, Mohammed Ali, or Barack Obama who was abandoned by his Communist father after he was born.
You don't want equality. You want equity which require equal outcomes, not equal opportunities to be something other than a thug, drug dealer, or the kid in high school who beats up on other kids because they want to get an education.

Why is it that inner cities, that are controlled by Democratic Party members, have the poorest school districts and less funding than other school districts?
The following article explains why inner city school districts receive more funding than those districts predominantly populated by whites.

An equal opportunity would indicate that all students had a basic foundational level of support. Not some districts with modern schools and new curriculum while other schools don't have adequate facilities and are using curriculum from the Clinton years.

Yes, Gov Kate Brown of OR is another 'woke' idiot wants to pander to people of color.
Let's lower education standards so that everyone can get through high school and not have to worry about the hard tasks of reading and writing.
That makes sense after years of telling people of color that in order to get ahead in this challenging world they need to learn how to read and write. Maybe even be able to count to one hundred without using your fingers.

I know, I know, I live in a state that is even nuttier than its southern neighbor CA.

What is wrong with Progressives who believe they are helping people of color?

We live in an upside-down world where Progressives of all stripes will come to the Gov's aid to justify her hurting people of color - including parents who will be raising uneducated kids.

Don't raise the bridge, lower the water. The very idea of lowing standards so blacks, latinos, or other minority groups can "achieve equality" is a farce and does the opposite of getting them to that goal. Equal means equal and liberals don't seem to understand the damage they do to minorities or they just don't care.

Oh, I think they understand perfectly. Uneducated and non-thinking citizens are good for socialism.

The stupid politicians are prejudiced against a particular group believing they cannot meet the expectations of those who should try harder.
So they lower the bar thinking they are doing some good for a significant part of the population that do not wish to try harder - BECAUSE LIFE IS JUST TOO HARRRD!

My fifth grade lay teacher in my Catholic school would have simply been dumbfounded by this legal action to rob young people of the opportunity to try harder. She was tough but she was fair. I dared not misbehave in her class.

I don't disagree. I'm pretty amazed by the number of young adults, particularly the males, who have given themselves permission not to work because they have "too many anxieties." I mean, since when did so many get the idea that the world owed them a living? That working for one's living was an option?

I know plenty of people who are living with actual depression/anxiety disorders and ive seen people who just up and leave while a friend of mine works himself to the bone. The latter have no excuse.

A "free lunch" is what another is, by their own "free choice" is willing to pay for.
Nothing in life is free, with perhaps the exception of free radicals which are mostly short lived without taking.
