Drone Footage of Homs, Syria[W:57]

Re: Drone Footage of Homs, Syria

What side in the Syrian civil war is fighting for freedom?

The very idea of a free, democratic society like those in the West is completely at odds with Islam. That is a serious problem for non-Muslims living in predominately Muslim nations, although the devout Muslims living there really do not want freedom, in our sense of the word. For them, a person is free when he has submitted himself completely to Allah. Countries like Turkey, Lebanon, and Tunisia have to some extent been exceptions to the rule for a time, but even there the commitment to democratic rule has not been deep and lasting. The problem seems to lie in the religion itself, which has never had a reformation.

Re: Drone Footage of Homs, Syria

You confuse Syria with having an open and free democracy - one and of crooks replaces the other.

Actually, I was not saying that Syrian or other refugees must fight to establish OUR brand of "freedom." I believe that any system of government that people freely elect to live under; be it communist, socialist, republican, fascist, democratic, whatever, has merit in their situation.

So if these citizens wish a different form of government which they feel preferable, including a theocracy guided by Sharia law? More power to them.

And Syrian Citizens, poorly armed, poorly supported, poorly equipped fought the Govt for years. They fought from 2012 till now.

What?? Explain the 'freedom' that exists under communism or fascism or Sharia law? Just so you know, 'OUR brand of freedom'--that being a freedom based in liberty and individual rights is the only TRUE freedom and certainly the only one worth fighting for.

I don't have to explain anything. My point was pretty clear. If the people wish it, they get the government they deserve.
