Dow Jones down 400 points on trade fears after Chinese tech exec's arrest

Trump very well may back off on the extradition request, but not because of the stock market. Trump doesn't care about that. No, if he does back off, it'll be because it's advantageous to his negotiations with China. In other words, it'll be because the Chinese gave something up.

Or maybe they'll detain an American executive and say two can play this game.

What agreement? Trump doesn't have any signed documents of agreement with the Chinese government. You would think you would figure out by now that just because Trump says something exists doesn't mean that any such thing actually exists. Matter of fact it usually proves not to be the case.

Who said anything about signed documents?

In any case, the Chinese have said there is an agreement.

shrug...

Or maybe China will toss a nuke at Canada.

What deal would that be?
Trump claimed that China had agreed to reduce or eliminate its 40 percent tariffs on cars imported from the US His top economic adviser, Larry Kudlow, acknowledged no deal had been “signed and sealed and delivered yet”.

Not even Trump’s administration seems to know what the U.S. and China agreed to

It's amateur hour in the Oval Office, folks.

Signed documents is what defines an "agreement". Whatever anyone says, especially Trump, is simply little more than hearsay.

Perhaps you should go by what the Chinese say...instead of the spinning nonsense from the Trump-hating media.

???????????????????

From the first paragraph of YOUR provided link:
BEIJING, Dec 6 (Reuters) - China on Thursday expressed confidence in striking a trade deal with the United States within their 90-day ceasefire period, praising the recent meeting between U.S. President Donald Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping as highly successful.

Note the difference? Trump said there WAS a deal. China said they were confident that a deal WOULD be reached within 90-days. In other words, there currently is NO DEAL.

I guess you didn't read the first link I gave. Perhaps you are unable to translate it. Here is exactly what it says:

Press spokesman of the Ministry of Commerce answered questions on Sino-US economic and trade consultation

Article source: Ministry of Commerce Press Office 2018-12-05 08:00 Article Type: Original Content Category: News

A reporter asked: We know that the Chinese economic and trade team has returned to Beijing. What is your comment on this meeting?
A: The meeting was very successful and we have confidence in the implementation.

Q: How is China prepared to promote the next economic and trade consultation?
A: The economic and trade teams of the two sides will actively promote the consultation work within 90 days in accordance with a clear timetable and road map.

Q: What are the priorities for China?
A: China will start from implementing specific issues that have reached consensus, and the sooner the better.

And, it seems you decided to pick and choose from the second link. This is what you deliberately ignored:

Gao confirmed for the first time since the high-stakes meeting that China had agreed to implement consensus reached by both sides on agriculture, energy and cars, although he did not give details on any specific measures.

“We will start with agricultural products, energy, automobiles to immediately implement the issues that the two sides have reached consensus,” Gao said, when asked about what is on the negotiation agenda.

“Then, in the next 90 days, we will follow a clear timetable and roadmap to negotiate on issues such as intellectual property right protection, tech cooperation, market access, and trade balance,” he said, stressing the consultations should be based on meeting the interests of both parties.

“China and United States have reached very important consensus as both sides’ interests overlap,” Gao said. His comments echoed earlier remarks made by senior Chinese diplomat Wang Yi, who said the meeting was “friendly and candid” and would help to avoid further trade tensions.

“All of these help to safeguard China’s legitimate interests, and are also in the interests of the United States, and even more are in line with the expectations of the international community,” he added in a statement carried on the foreign ministry’s website.

So...everything Trump said about his agreement with Xi is confirmed by the Chinese, themselves.

And just why should we trust what the Chinese say? I find it rather very sad and unfortunate that we can't even depend on what our own President says anymore than what China, North Korea, Russia or Saudi Arabia says.

Oh. Sure. Trump and Xi are running a game on you.

Okay.
