No, I'm not being sarcastic. In the UK the man in the street puts up with almost anything, although liberals are a little more stubborn. Many men now have to wait another two years to retire, and women seven years. Austerity cuts (albeit many needed) have affected lives. Due to uncontrolled immigration housing has become a crazy issue, the NHS is at an almost stand still, and the list goes on and on. If the fishermen in France get a bad deal they go on strike, if the lorry drivers get a bad deal they block roads, and if fuel taxes rise they burn down the city. OK, some of this may be a bit exaggerated, and parts technically inaccurate, but you get my point. We sit back while the government sh!2 on us, while the French are prepared to do something about it.

That said, what the hell were they thinking at the last general election. They had the option to elect Le Pen, a woman who would have rewarded the hard working, controlled immigration, and would have taken France out of the EU, which effectively would have seen the back of what is no more than a European Soviet Union. Despite all the problems the country was having, including Islamic terrorism, they elected a leader who is the epitome of everything liberal, socialist, and green. In short, a perfect recipe for complete disaster. Already his policies have now started to bring the country down. High fuel taxation in order he can spend a few more euros on green issues, and no doubt fund the building of a some more mosques. I hate to say it, but he is a bit like a young Corbyn.

So, in such a short time the French have proven themselves to admirably be rebeliant, but at the same time quite naive.

Geez, another one.
Read some history, and try to deflate yourself. The US has always been a big fish in a small pond. France has always been in the middle of the shark tank, and has often been the biggest, meanest shark there. You need reminding that when France was taking on all comers in Europe and winning the US was invading Canada and getting it's ass kicked back across the border. 3 times. Yeah, most of France surrendered in WW2, along with most of Europe, and the US came in on the winning side but having watched on TV as helicopters took off from the roof of the embassy in Saigon and were pushed over the side of the aircraft carrier, bailing on a war with one of the smallest countries in the world, I don't get what you've got to be proud of.

There’s some history to support that notion, but don’t forget they helped us break free from George III.

How have you been treated when you've been in France?

When was your last time there?

I like France. France isn't the UK and France isn't the US. France is France. Mary doesn't have to like France and she doesn't have to take the Chunnel over if she doesn't want.

You flatter yourself. Again.
If France defines 'surrender', the US defines 'start something you can't finish'.

Perhaps they thought one world leader who publicly supports the Neo Nazis was enough?
