Good article. I didn't vote for Trump, I knew better, but when he won I was one of those people who said to give him a chance. I never thought he would sink so low, threaten our national security and be so corrupt that he would be Impeached and still continue breaking the laws and violating our constitution. I never thought he'd be so racist and turn his back on the American citizens, I also didn't realize he was so ignorant and self-serving.

I thought he'd listen to the adults in Washington with experience and knowledge and consider their advice, but besides being a narcissist, he also can't read, write or understand basic necessities like briefings. His extreme and constant lying and inciting hate and violence had made his term much more destructive to our country than ever imagined.

He has been the exact disaster I expected, although alienating all of our allies, it even attempting to hide his racism, and kissing the ball sacks of dictators was a bit more than I expected.

I did give the Republicans too much credit though, I really thought they would attempt to at least minimize the corruption and the crazy, however instead they have enabled him in every way and put this country in he worst shape it has been since the depression...

I don’t believe for a minute that you were “one of those people who said to give him a chance.”

Be honest. You are a starch left winger.

I remember the one of the main arguments conservatives would make in favor of a Trump vote is that a "president" Trump would behave differently than "candidate" Trump was behaving.

He didn't. The GOP got what it asked for.

The Americans got what they deserve for tolerating an Electoral College system that selects their chief executive instead of one-man-one-vote.

We've seen what he meant by having "only the best people". Apparently it means the best people to help him obfuscate the law, the best to help further his own enrichment while in office, the best to come up with ways to only help the wealthy and the well connected and the best to help him continue his corruption internationally in direct conflict with his oath of office, and even warnings from George Washington.

my big fear was that he was going to start another world war. instead, he let the rich raid the treasury, planted the seeds for a civil war, and horribly mismanaged a pandemic. so i guess instead of being in The Day After, we could be in some prequel for a dystopian America series. i hope that it doesn't involve a death game of some sort, because that's a real risk. many dystopian scenarios include a death game.

Given the choice of turmoil in American streets or the invasion of another country, I go with the former.

i'm not thrilled about the pandemic. in fact, i'm very frightened. as for civil war, i'd probably look into a transfer. there's no way that i'm going to civil war over a game show host who paints himself like a clown.

I have more faith in the resiliency of the United States and its citizens.

We will survive Trump. We will survive COVID. I see no "Civil war" looming over Trump.

i'm hoping that the civil war idiots are too old, lazy, and entertained to make a serious effort. of course, then you have to take into account the Jim Bobs who like to take their bang bangs to courthouses.

as for COVID, a lot of people are putting their asses on the line to treat the sick, and a lot of scientists are working pretty hard on treatments. the average person should chip in by not gathering in crowds during a pandemic, masking up, and social distancing until the situation is much more under control.

Sounds like a bad case of TDS.

Amen to all you posted.

It would be helpful if the democrats would cease politicizing the pandemic. Covid 19 while still dangerous is not the crisis it was at the beginning. We know much more about it and have much more effective treatments. And there is the fact that most healthy people who contract Covid 19 remain either asymptomatic or suffer only mild symptoms. It is more of an issue for the elderly or those with co-morbitities.

Only to libruls anal enough to obsess over what the rest of the world thinks about America.

It is funny that you say that, since one of the bigger (louder) criticism of Obama was how he had weakened our standing in the world.
Much like deficits, these things matter not when a republican is POTUS. Shock of all shocks.

i work in scientific research. i don't need you to explain COVID to me.

I "confess" to being someone who absolutely never said to give him a chance. It was clear to me from the start that he was dangerous and ignorant with no understanding of the Constitution or the way that the federal government works and no respect for the law or the rights of human beings.

I would like to be a starch left winger; I especially love pasta. However, I have been on a low carb régime for several years so I cannot be. Perhaps you meant "staunch"?

Donald Trump has brought ridicule and disgrace on the American people and their government in the eyes of the world except for Israel.
I don't know about anybody else but I am not 100% sure that Israel even trust us any more,
when they see us turning our backs on some of our long time allies.
I am sure they are watching their own back real close
Have a nice afternoon

Trump isn't the issue though and I keep saying how wrong that thinking is.

It's his supporters.

You can beat Trump this time around, but the thinking that got him there and the judges he has appointed, especially with the Supreme Court will have massive ramifications for decades to come and the craziest part of all of it is, that many of Trumps supporters will be the ones hurt by that and in general Republican policies.

And that's the true madness of not just the Trump supporter, but Republican supporters in general, they support people who promise to make their lives worse by abrogating their responsibility to their constituents to the massive corporations and wealthy donors that support their campaigns, stealing from their supporters and their childrens futures in order to give those aforementioned people a little more, all the while they become more angry and ignorant if what is really going on as their mind is blasted with crazier and more insane propaganda.

These are people that go into a voting booth and vote for politicians who PROMISE, literally PROMISE to take healthcare away from them.

You cannot, cannot, reason with people that misguided and again, as I always say, that doesn't mean inversely those people have to support Democrats.

But if you think the Republican Party and Trump, truly stand up for you as a person and your well being and truly support a free market economy, you are out of your mind.

They are the croniest of crony capitalists and all they support is predatory Capitalism that seeks to extract the wealth of the nation as fast as possible while offering less and less in return.

You are being stolen from and you're supporting it, not even to mention the break down of respect for Democratic Values.

Standing in the world is one thing, world wide opinion is another. Obama did weaken our standing in the world with many of his actions. One example was unilaterally signing America onto agreements that should have went through the treaty process and gained approval or disapproval in Congress. One of those agreements was the insanely stupid nuke deal with Iran. Another was ill thought out Paris Climate Accord largely funded by the US and giving the worse polluters on the planet such as China and India a pass. Trump on the other hand has strengthened our standing by showing the willingness to go after terrorist thugs like Soleimani, even if he was part of the Iranian government. The willingness to take such a hard line with Iran likely contributed to two recent peace agreements between Israel and it's Arab neighbors, UAE and Sudan.

I voted for Trump in 2016 knowing he was a garbage human. Unfortunately, his opponent was garbage as well.

I have come to realize that both Trump and his supporters are awful people.
