Donald Trump Forces G.O.P. to Choose Between Insularity and Outreach

Pence is a HOME RUN pick for Trump...WOW.....northern conservatives.... catholics... and can bring secession easily if needed

Mike Pence is an evangelical catholic. He's a talibornagain.... This is well known by people who have logic.

Kinda looks like Trumps leading the Grand Old Party on the same path the Whigs took. But the modern day Whigs (AKA the republicans) have written another page to the play- book. Where the Olde Timey Whigs favored “modernization “the modern day Whigs(AKA the republicans) favor stagnation. :2wave:

<As Republicans stream into Cleveland to nominate Donald J. Trump for president, they confront a party divided and deeply imperiled by his racially divisive campaign. He has called for cracking down on Muslims and undocumented immigrants, stoked fears of crime and terrorism and repeatedly declared that the United States is in a war for its very survival.>

<With his diatribes against Islam, immigration from Mexico and economic competition from Asia, Mr. Trump has amassed dominant support from restive white voters. His political approach would have Republicans court working-class and rural whites, mainly in the South and Midwest, at the grievous cost of alienating minorities and women, who often decide presidential races.>

<House Speaker Paul D. Ryan predicted that the aftermath of the election would bring “a fight for the soul of our party,” and said Republicans would have to reject the politics of racial resentment, which he called “a loser.”>

<“Our job is not to preach to a shrinking choir; it’s to win converts,” said Mr. Ryan, who has endorsed Mr. Trump but criticizes his pronouncements with regularity.>

You quote the New York Times, the most left wing bias nut job of a paper, what do you expect them to say?

Why is there this overwhelming notion that we must always toss aside the interests of Whites males, in favor of the sensibilities of minority groups and women.

Why is there an overwhelming notion amongst the right that we must choose between the interests of white males and the interests of others? Hasn't the shooting the unarmed white men proven that issues are not just about black and white?

So...we have here a liberal creating a thread and right out of the gate he gets it wrong when he says that Republicans "favor stagnation". What that means is that if we are not doing what the liberals want, it's bad.

And then, this liberal quotes an article from that hard-left-leaning NYT that incorrectly characterizes Trump as a racist.

The result? Another useless thread.

1. Trump has not made any statement that equates to opposition to legal "immigration" from Mexico. All of his comments refer to illegal attempts by Mexican citizens to enter the country and remain here.

2. Trumps "diatribes" against Islam boil down to a valid concern about threats to our society posed by anti-American members of a religious belief system which advocates Jihad against our society. Jihad: Islam, A Muslim holy war or spiritual struggle against infidels.

3. Trumps concerns about economic competition from nations in the Far East who either develop, or allow foreign (including American) corporations to exploit, their citizens in literal sweat-shop labor for crap wages are valid. Outsourcing has proved a boon for corporate profiteering at the expense of American workers.

4. NONE of the above points he raises is "Racist;" they are properly identifiable as "Nationalist."

I don't care for Trump but I have to support what you say in this post. Trump has never made any statement about stopping legal immigration from Mexico. None at all. And his comments about Muslims and Mexicans are not racist. There are enough real racists in this country without making up imaginary ones.

Mike Pence is an evangelical catholic. He's a talibornagain.... This is well known by people who have logic.

pence is a northern catholic conservative.. in the middle of the rust belt states that will decide the election which will help

BUT the main reason is he picked pence because he is strong on pushing states rights..... this will be what stops liberalism world wide.. states rights will do that...trump has checkmated the liberals with getting the real power on his side.... THE MEN... law enforcement... the military and now pence that will help push the states to demand new laws

pence is a northern catholic conservative..

He is an evangelical catholic. This will not get him votes.... Conservatives do not like wishy washy people. Pence is wishy washy when it comes to his religion. Secession will not happen because states like Indiana are simply too uneducated to know how to secede without failing....

A liberal reading the NY Times passing judgement on the GOP.

Does anyone else find this as amusingly pointless to discuss as I do?

WRONG....

He wants to win..... and this can help him with the rust belt states and with northern catholics..... BUT he could have done better if he just wanted to WIN...he could have got an independent woman then he would have won.. BUT that would not help with his number 1 goal

The number 1 goal is for states rights and pence shows he is strong on pushing the feds from a state... even if hillary wins This will be the big winner because this can bring in 30 conservative states to demand states rights or they will secede

To make this happen trump went after the right people.. the vets.. the men....law enforcement and the military so trump will win even if hillary wins this so called election

Do you have anthing besides your 4 four talking points? How about addressing the point of the thread, which is Trump driving the Grand Old Party into the ditch with his lack of " Insularity and Outreach.":2wave:

this military times poll shows what trump is doing with picking pence... Trump has the MEN.. has the VETS.. has the law enforcement and here has the military.. and pence is very strong on getting states to demand rights to the feds.... so one can see trump is checkmating liberals even if hillary wins

In a new survey of American military personnel, Donald Trump emerged as active-duty service members' preference to become the next U.S. president, topping Hillary Clinton by more than a 2-to-1 margin. However, in the latest Military Times election survey, more than one in five troops said they’d rather not vote in November if they have to choose between just those two candidates.

More than 54 percent of the 951 troops Military Times surveyed said they would vote for Trump, the presumed Republican presidential nominee, over Clinton, the Democratic front-runner. Only about 25 percent said they would vote for Clinton in that matchup.

/////////////////////

and since the military is MORE and MORE conservative as you go up the power level ladder to officers... that poll wold be even more so for trump with where the real power lies in the military

Every time Ryan speaks, I get this mental picture of him bent over in a prison shower holding a bar of soap.

HEemm...we both have images BUTT mines of Eddie Munster grown up and in congress.

Whigs are liberals. Conservatives are Tories.

the military poll has trump at 54% and hillary at 25% and even more for trump as the power level rises

Trump has picked pence to show the governors how to demand states rights or secession will come and nothing can stop them as we see with TRUMP having THE MEN... the VETS.. the law enforcement and the military

From your OP:

CONGRATULATIONS! looks like you and I are in agreement on one point then.

"the modern day Whigs(AKA the republicans) favor stagnation."

The modern day republican party is on marching its way into extinction like the Whigs did.:2wave:

this tells you what will be happening and why he picked pence...... in order to help other governors to push for states rights or else

Marine corp.. Trump 58.78%... Hillary 8.57%
Army............Trump 53.8%......Hillary 19.72%
Air Force.......Trump 48.33%... Hillary 21.41%
Navy.............Trump 38.67%......Hillary 27%

there is no power to stop states rights and with that the states will bring a wisdom test for voters

What does this have to do with my point?

I am certainly NOT in agreement with anything you've said up to this time.

Only to those without much logic or understanding of logistics believe the above is a serious suggestion... Northern Catholics wisely aren't liberals. They are the most well known cafeteria catholics in the world...

As such, we can only expect this to be a complete failure for TP ticket... Their wishes of unwisely destroying the United States of America while hiding it behind 'making America great'.. cannot hold up to even the weakest of criticisms...

Trump will not get the vote from the law enforcement unions who depend on Democrats... he will not get the vote of a military that will not force other countries to build walls for us....

Wise people understand this... I have spoken.
