Donald Trump calls Rex Tillerson "dumb as a rock" in a tweet

Much like Nov. 6th, 2016, the only saving grace to this guy is SCOTUS picks and not being Hillary.

His domestic economic policy has been OK and I firmly believe that he's been unfairly abused by the Mueller investigation but DAMN I wish someone would take away his Twitter.

Indeed...Tillerson was in no way qualified for the job...But he still had scruples and believed in the rule of law

Rex Tillerson was more qualified for the job as Secretary of State than Heather Nauert has to be Ambassador to the U.N. As CEO of ExxonMobile, Tillerson's dealing with governments was an integral part of running a major oil company. Tillerson's rise through the ranks at ExxonMobil was driven at least in part by his skill and toughness in dealing with governments, including trouble spot governments.

Tillerson banged heads with Trump on nearly every foreign issue because Trump wanted a lapdog to do his bidding and that's not what Rex Tillerson was willing to be. It was actually Tillerson who had advocated dialogue with the North Koreans while Trump and his aides had publicly favored a tougher approach, and cast doubt on the use of talking. Trump and Tillerson also disagreed publicly on the future of the nuclear deal with Iran. Tillerson said the deal was flawed, but that it did what it was supposed to: freeze Iran’s nuclear program. He had been working with U.S. allies who are part of the agreement to find a solution to the impasse caused by Trump’s position. They were also divided on NATO: Trump dismissed it as irrelevant while, early in his presidency, appearing to condition U.S. support for its NATO allies on their defense expenditures. Tillerson tried to soothe the fears this caused within the alliance, which were being exacerbated by Russia’s increasingly muscular foreign policy.

Tillerson cautioned the president against moving the U.S. embassy to Jerusalem, which Trump did anyway; and he wanted the U.S. to stay in the Trans-Pacific Partnership trade agreement and the Paris climate accord, both of which Trump withdrew the U.S. from. Most recently, Trump and Tillerson differed on Russia’s role in the attempted assassination in the U.K. of a former Russian spy and his daughter. Tillerson supported the U.K. government’s assessment that Russia was behind the attack. Trump, who has been reluctant to criticize Russia publicly, has hedged instead of echoing that line.

It's clear that Tillerson's approach was one of diplomacy not authoritarian. Trump will not listen to any of his advisors or lawyers, that's why he can't keep people that he should be keeping for the well-being of the country, not only of Trump.

Maybe we can revive this year old challenge?

President Trump proposed an “IQ tests” faceoff with Secretary of State Rex Tillerson after the nation's top diplomat reportedly called the president a “moron” and disparaged his grasp of foreign policy.

I applaud you for not ducking this thread.

But surely the problem is far greater than Twitter. The former Secretary of State said POTUS doesn't read and constantly asks people to do things that are illegal.

Trump was simply never qualified to be president.

Do you Trust Trump to make life and death decisions about your family and our country? I don't.

Two years ago Tillerson was chairman and CEO of the one of world's most powerful corporations on the face of the planet. He left that position to be Secretary of State, only to be fired by tweet while he was on the toilet. Now he's being publicly mocked by the President of the United States.

Given enough time, everybody in the service of Trump eventually meets this fate. Welcome to your future, William Barr!

While at a an interview with CBS News while he was at a fundraiser for the MD Anderson Cancer Center, Rex Tillerson said that several times, he had to explain to Trump that the things he wanted to do were illegal. When Rex would explain that the law would have to be changed if he wanted to do it, Trump would lose interest, presumably because that would be too much work. Suffice it to say that Trump isn’t pleased right now.

Tillerson said a lot more than that bashing the President in that interview. And love it or hate it, if you take a swing at President Trump, he returns the punch. So be it. There is nothing in the Constitution or in any government protocol that says the President can't do that. I personally strongly wish he would word those kinds of things differently, but he is going to be Trump and if that is the worst anybody can come up with to fault him, he's doing better than most.

Still trump hired Tillerson...Now he says Tillerson is dumb...What does that make your hero trump?....Only the best

How unnecessarily nasty and petty.

The blessing of Twitter here is allowing Trump to make one unforced error after another. No one but he is responsible--hoist by his own petard he is. I am so embarrassed. Even for him, and that's the worst thing: He knows perfectly well how to behave; he just doesn't give a damn.

That's how democracy works. The voters decide who is qualified.

And voters can elect someone who is not qualified. They can elect a conman. In the third world they elect musicians and celebrities...oh wait...Trump is a TV celebrity.

Trump hires anyone. He's a horrible leader. This is something that went on when he ran his Casinos in Atlantic City. He hired his brother and his wife to run Casinos. They had no idea what they were doing. People who worked for Trump describe him as incompetent in that regard. He'll hire people he knows rather than someone who is actually qualified.

This same pattern continues into his presidency.

The "voters" elected Hillary Clinton...trump got in by the outdated electoral college...Democracy be damned

But you're ignoring the SUBSTANCE of what Tillerson said.

1. Trump doesn't read briefings

2. Trump has opinions he won't allow people to change that are not based on the briefings and facts

3. Trump wants to do things that are illegal and his babysitters have to stop him

It's not just Tillerson who has said this. At what point are you willing to accept that this is true?

The unemployment office is filled with people who were thought at one time to be the "best" but didn't work out.

I don't. He's telling us who he is every time he Tweets. That's the real Donald Trump, an immoral, insecure, childish, ignorant, lying narcissist. Standing with this guy is the bargain the GOP made and what they defend when defending Trump. I'm glad this is out in the open.

I don't understand how one meets someone in person and can't tell immediately they're dumb as a rock. Here, one post and we know.

Turns out Trump didn't even know who he was.

I'm listening to conservative radio right now...

One listener...

"I think president Trump is quite the genius...(he's using Twitter to manipulate)"

LOL

Sometimes an idiot is just an idiot. There's not 3-dimensional chess game being played. Trump is just a moron who says what's on his mind.

:lamo That tweet perfectly reflects the reality show white house game that Trump is running. Stable genius at work here!

So everybody who hires somebody who doesn't work out is dumb? I wonder how many managers that would make dumb? The President had nothing but nice things to say about Tillerson until Tillerson decided to make brownie points with the we-hate-Trump-more-than-plague disgusting leftist press. And if he didn't know that the President punches back when punched, he indeed might be dumb as a rock.

I just don't understand how Trump still has supporters. Every intelligent person knows Trump is an idiot. Now we hear those who worked for him saying the same thing. This completely validates all the books written that claim those who work for him think he's a moron.

I just don't get how this is our reality. American voters are just this dumb and gullible. I can accept that some people were conned by a con man but by now the truth should be obvious.

They are just completely ignoring reality at this point. Point being: WTF are the Trump supporters on these threads or in any breaking news section??? It's only later when they come up with some BS Culture war that nobody cares about we continuously try to tell them we don't care about it, and then they call us evil for not "Paying attention to what is happening."

That only matters to people who get hurt by petty insults. Rex Tillerson doesn't get hurt by petty insults. Donald Trump does.

Having been in top management at one point in my career, I can honestly say I have not read every single staff report that crossed my desk. There just wasn't time enough in the day. I had staff I trusted to advise me if there was something that needed my attention or that I needed to know.

I more than once was counseled to not do something that was in fact illegal and I had a far sight fewer rules and regulations to comply with than a President does. If you think staff never advised President Obama and every other person to hold that office that something he proposed or considered would be illegal, you're living in a pipe dream.

I think all managers get conflicting information and sooner or later will make a decision one or more staffers, board members, or whatever consider the wrong choice. And some of those people will probably feel like management blew them off. Those closest to President Trump report that he gets LOTS of opinion and as much information as possible before making a decision. And nobody is afraid to tell him what they think even if it is contrary to the President's opinion.

If Tillerson had said that he disagreed with the President re something specific, the President would have shrugged and moved on. But Tillerson went out of his way to criticize and denigrate the President as a person. It was an unclassy and pretty reprehensible thing to do. The President doesn't take that lying down.

That only matters to people who get hurt by petty insults. Rex Tillerson doesn't get hurt by petty insults. Donald Trump does.

We knew that about the President before he was elected. To love him or hate him or anything in between those two extremes is anybody's right. But the fact is, right or wrong, if you accuse the President you better have specifics. If you punch him just to punch him, he will punch back. That has been his style as long as he has been the public sector. And anybody who voted for him had to know that.
