....and great news for ISIS. When ISIS is releasing propaganda to recruit fighters, it's pretty easy to say that Trump speaks for all of us. I mean, if you wanted a cartoon villain it's hard to do better than Trump.

I would hazard to guess that you could find comparable if not better material at a better price (free) through the Combating Terrorism Center.

I'd also be interested in any research Sageman is supervising at the FPRI.

And I'm sure SOCOM and/or SOCCENT are putting out some good stuff.

I'm not saying that isn't a good book as I wouldn't know since I haven't read it, nor am I saying that McCants is a slouch, he isn't.

But I wouldn't consider a policy wonk with no practical experience in anything of note the authority.

I wouldn't vote for anyone that wants to profile anyone from any religion or assumes a "guilty until prove otherwise" position based on one's beliefs. I may very much dislike Hillary Clinton and the Democrat's proposed policies, but now if Trump gets the nomination I might have to vote for Hillary as a lesser of two very very big evils.... I might not like her, but at least she seems smarter and more tactful than Trump. I'd prefer to have that and maybe a House/Senate that curbs her agenda than have Trump in the White House saying bigoted or evil things and instigating trouble wherever he goes.
 


I doubt that your sources actually took a look at what makes Daesh tick.

That requires reading and analyzing the the sources that Daesh draw inspiration from.

Anyone who supports Trump and this disgusting tripe he endorses, best prepare for those who attack and either injure or kill innocent Muslims. When you support this, then prepare for the repercussions of raising the level of hate directed at Muslims which is what Trump is doing.

There will be more attacks, it is the nature of the world we live in.
Whether in the EU- NA- Africa,- Asia, attacks will occur.
People will die. Perhaps hundreds, who knows.
Then repercussion by wackos will follow.
Innocent Muslims will be attacked and or die. Do you suppoort that?

As far as post #8 goes, cite me chapter and verse where McCants is agreeing that turning away refugees is "what ISIS wants".

While you're doing that research, note McCants opinions of the Obama administration's "policy" (if you can even call his disorganized grabasstic response a "policy) toward ISIS.

I think you'll be surprised what you find.

Or on second thought, no, you won't, because you're starting from zero and anything you learn will be new to you.

As far as post #10 is concerned, yeah, a socialist career politician who was given a job as a UN high commissioner because of who he knows, rather than what he knows doesn't really count as an authority on anything.

But of course you don't really know anything more about Guterres than you do about McCants or this topic more generally.

I'll tell you what, why don't you reserve your "slapping downs" for topics you actually know a little something about?

I do not think Trump has any clue as to the danger his rhetoric puts us in.

It is no longer amusing watching whom Trump appeals to just to illustrate prejudices among some in a party, and it is no longer a source of politics to bring up his xenophobia. Ironically, Trump claiming to represent the group of Americans most concerned over our safety are championing the one person making it much worse.

His message by the end of the day tomorrow will be discussed across the greater Middle East region from all of their sources, and in all of those ideological circles. But worse than that, will be how ISIS plans to capitalize on how insane Trump is turning out to be.

ISIS and like minded organizations will now *want* Trump as President at all costs. His mouth gives them every excuse to go out and harm anything "west" and Trump as President creates a poster child for recruitment.

It is absolutely ****ing pathetic that this is the state of American politics. For this side of the pond, a 3rd grader will be able to whip the hell out of him in a post primary debate on this subject. Too bad for him it is looking like he will face Hillary in said debate, and this will get ugly quick.

The only thing that might save Independents to vote for Hillary, is watching that angry fool win the Republican nod. Forget what I said earlier, the further we go with this the more likely Independents and moderates will vote for Hillary... out of pure safety concern for the hate Trump would bring down on the US from a good third of the planet.
 
I'd like to read the statement, which is currently unavailable due to server overloads, before rendering a judgment on the veracity of the NY Times' assessment. The quotes selected weren't especially damning, which is rather strange given the thunderous statement Trump was apparently giving.

That being said, this portion of his website link gives credence to the NY Times' claims: "donald-j.-trump-statement-on-preventing-muslim-immigration."

If the intent and language of the statement indeed calls for a ban on all Muslim entry and immigration, then Trump has given yet another shameful message. Furthermore, until the primary season shakes out, I fear that the broad association of the Republican Party with this dangerous man will remain injurious in a race that should be the GOP's race to lose. His high unfavorables within the party notwithstanding, this man is still leading the polls.

While both party's primary season has been the greatest jump toward extremism since the mid-60s and early-1970s, I'm afraid that the GOP's primary has been especially heinous.
