Donald Trump’s Jet, a Regular on the Campaign Trail, Isn’t Registered to Fly

“Over the past several months, Donald J. Trump has crisscrossed the country making dozens of campaign stops in places like Sioux City, Iowa, and Jackson, Miss., often in his sleek Cessna jet. There is just one hitch: The plane’s registration is expired.

Records kept with the Federal Aviation Administration show the aircraft’s registration lapsed on Jan. 31. Laura J. Brown, a spokeswoman for the Federal Aviation Administration, confirmed that the plane’s registration was not in good standing and said the owner had not renewed it.

With few exceptions, aircraft must be registered in order to fly. Mr. Trump’s plane could be grounded for days, or even months, while the issue is sorted out. In the event of an accident, the company that insures the jet could cite the lapsed registration to decline any claims.

The F.A.A. could also fine or assess other penalties against the owner, the operator or both; Mr. Trump owns the plane through a limited liability company. Though it is unlikely that the agency would seek the maximum penalty, flying with no registration could result in a civil penalty of up to $27,500, a criminal fine of up to $250,000 and imprisonment for up to three years, it said…………….

WOOPS.............

Looks like the Donald who thinks rules are for the “little people” may be flying business class………and whining how it’s unfair and a plot by the GOP to deny him the nomination………Poor Donald……………. seems like everyone is against the Trumpster and 70% of those “little people” who follow the rules have no use for him…….

In this case it may be a big deal based on the size of the jet and the trips it's making.

But I rub shoulders with many people in the General Aviation community, and the reality is, it's not really a big deal. occassionally the FAA will catch people flying unregistered aircraft or someone forgets to renew their certificate. The maximum that usually happens is the FAA asks you renew and if you renew no issue.

same as the tabs on your car. 90% of the time you get stopped by police with expired tabs you get a verbal warning on them, or a ticket that will be dismissed if you renew.

Is that an argument or a personal attack.............

The problem here dear friend is not my obsession but your open embarrassment and loathing that these facts being published..........as in "I want a cover up"

Why Donald Trump’s plane isn’t registered with the FAA | NewsCut | Minnesota Public Radio News

How could it be that a plane is no longer registered? Easy. Stop at any big or small airport, and there’s a fair chance you’ll find people who don’t know they have to renew their plane’s registration, because up until a few years ago, they didn’t have to.

Up until 2010, once an aircraft registration was assigned, it lasted forever without renewal. That year, the FAA announced it would cancel all registrations over a three-year period and owners would have to register them every three years.
Of course, the registration has nothing to do with the plane’s suitability to fly. Registration has nothing to do with the mandated maintenance and inspection schedule.

A big ole nothingburger.

This I am sure is true............But if your name is Donald Trump who says all in D.C. are crooks or shysters............and also running for President .........puts the FAA in a strange place because no matter what they do.......there will be an uproar on the opposing side..........

What I would guess is this is more than a one day story.................and an embarrassing one at that...........

Why would I want a cover up. One I can't stand Trump and secondly and most importantly if you think Trump personally handles anything like registering that air plane then you are even more clueless then you let on. Your obsession only makes you look foolish.

And the fact thar you think I have shown any type of embarrassment further displays you foolishness.

So the question of the day is how does one get a flight plan approved for a plane that has an expired Registration?

I think that answer has to be that the FAA does not care much.

Well la-dee-dah

Big deal.

I detest Trump, but a) he has his 757 (plus whatever other planes are in his fleet); b) he can always lease another one; and c) the voters will care less. They will just assume it was a technical oversight that he had no personal knowledge of.

It's a non story.

Well la-dee-dah
Wow impressive comeback. Seriously though you should look into getting some help with your obsessions. It's not healthy.

Big old bag of "meh" here. Someone in his employ didn't keep up with the registration dates as needed and thus the company may pay a fine. Again, meh as it relates to somehow being a bad sign about Trump

Oh look, one of Trump's people forgot to file a renewal for his jet!! That means that Trump isn't qualified to be President...

Do you not see how dumb you sound when you make these posts???

Trump may well own a Cessna, and may be using it for stops at smaller GA fields, but almost all the pics I've seen of him he's been in a 757.

Having owned planes in the past registration used to be a one time deal and good for the life of the plane. That apparently changed a few years back. I wouldn't be surprised to find lots of unregistered planes out there. It's a paperwork requirement. Has nothing to do with airworthiness. BFD.

I'm glad you liked it..........

BTW

Have you any idea of what the definition is of "obsession"..............

And the clinical signs which can confirm a diagnosis of clinical obsession.......... which is referred to as "obsessive-compulsive disorder"..........

Thanks for the first hand knowledge........

Where does the buck stop?

BEW

And if its no big deal as you see it.............

Why is it creating such an uproar 'ferya?

Yes. His license plate expired on his plane.

He obviously is disqualified from running for president. I want anti-dildo Cruz vs Socialist Bernie...

Overheard in New York "Stop me before I vote again!"

Where does the buck belong?

What you're doing with this kind of thread is ONLY making yourself look bad. ANYONE with two connected brain cells would know that Trump pays people to deal with penny ante crap like this and he doesn't micro-manage every singel transaction they carry out or fail to carry out. Trying to use this kind of dumb garbage to attack Trump, Obama, Hillary, Sanders or ANYONE should be beneath ALL of us.

Why in the world do you have to register your jet every three years?

Why in the world do you have to register your jet every three years?

Simple because registering the aircraft isn't the important part. All aircraft has something called an annual. If the annual was out of date, that would be reason to ground the aircraft. The key to this is that ONE of the fleet of aircraft that he owns has an expired tail number registration. The plane in question is a Cessna Citation with a tail number of N725DT. The aircraft that is seen in all of the photos and used on the campaign trail is his Boeing 757 tail number N757AF, which is in good standing and doesn't expire until March 2018. The aircraft in question is a 12 seater that Trump can ground if necessary until the $5 fee is paid and the form filed.

My guess that Trump himself has nothing to do with the maintenance of his aircraft, mechanical, safety, or paperwork, other than write the checks. Probably not even that. It's also possible that the paperwork has been submitted and the government has not gotten around to issuing the renewal certificate.

A non issue.
