The Obama White House and the DOJ are going to be more careful until after the 2014 mid term elections are over then it's business as usual.

read this. it's in the public domain (to explain why it consists of more than snippets normally required by the forum's TOS)
28CFR 50.10 provides so much subjectivity, the DOJ can 'justify' any subpoena to the media it wants to issue
this gives the DOJ authority to become informed of media sources - the life blood of free speech reporting

in an instance, for example, if it became known a medial outlet was going to leak the assault on osama bin laden, placing that national security objective - and the members of the military - in peril, i could understand its application

look at the use of wiggle words, should, may instead of will and must; this will become a mechanism routinely used to suppress media reporting in the public's best interest. the most recent Snowden whistleblowing incident is an ideal example

another question to ponder is 'what is a media organization?" blog or something more

28 CFR 50.10 - Policy with regard to the issuance of subpoenas to members of the news media, subpoenas for telephone toll records of members of the news media, and the interrogation, indictment, or arrest of, members of the news media. | Title 28 - J

this is something that should be subject to the public's scrutiny. the current administration has avoided such transparency - despite its claims

which is why i am delighted you began this thread

Obama and Holder both should be impeached and prosecuted.

What a joke this "memo" is, just like the entire government. :doh
