Dog Meat Is Good

Hi All,

I am in USA and talk alwasy goes around to "what do you eat" and the fact that we eat dog, cat etc (i even love mouse sausage!!). People always seem shocked and then eat their Big Mac !! which is even more disgusting and who knows what animal it really contain (or how old the meat!!).

In China all our meat is fresh kill and very healthy, no chemicals or dangerous chemicals.

Yet you in USA look at this as wrong - prefer your "white chicken breast' or factory made steaks.

Is it hypocritical to eat cow etc but complain that civet cat, dog breed for meat (black dog is best !!) is wrong ???

What about your Spam - what the hell is that !!!!

Well let me help you along a bit. We don't eat dog or cats because we don't eat our friends. SPAM is pork shoulder ground up, I hear it is very good although I have never had it. I should know better then to acknowledge your posts since they do nothing but attempt to get a rise out of people but I thought you needed to know what SPAM is.

You have to befriend dogs and cats? How socially inadequate is THAT?

My friends are all human thankfully.

Animals are a commodity, and if some people choose to find certain animals all cuddly furry, fine, but don't judge others. To imprison them as pets is as exploitative as eating them. There is really nothing wrong with either practice. We're all bound by cultural norms, and I agree with the original poster, that it's rather hypocritical to eat cows (sacred in India) and then criticize the cultural norm of another country (for example, eating dog).

Never tried it, but will try anything once. Living in the land of horse (tastier than beef) snails (divine) and frogs legs (much more tender than ckicken) I don't believe you should judge. Donkey sausages are so tasty. Years ago we'd have baulked at ostrich and kangaroo, but now they're common fayre in our supermarkets. I once tried crocodile in a restaurant in London - that was interesting.

Fried Rice is spot on - if you'll eat the crap that is a Big Mac, you've no right to criticize others.

Had a lovely Chinese take away last night Fried! I love Chinese food. As tasty as Chinese men! :3oops:

Are you sure it just the shoulder - i was in Australia about 1 year ago and big outcry there as there beef pie contain camel meat - in that country camel came under definiton of beef for such use as pie. Spam looks to be all the rubbish that dropped on the floor ! I dont think this email tries to get a rise out of you !

Nearly 17 percent of people in China have never heard of AIDS and more than half (54.4 percent) do not know the cause of the disease, according to the first major study of AIDS-related knowledge among the country's general population. I found your McDonalds post very funny, thanks for sharing. Someone live there for two months and even found food sometime - ha ha ha!! Actually i wouldnt even try to go to USA McD's as seems full of your crack whores and mental cases that cant recover from your wars.

I am still trying to figure out the point of your AIDS post - i never mention AIDS did I ??

My point was peoples perception of whats "good" to eat means they dont often think about origin of the food they eat daily. Maybe you think people can get AIDS from food ?

Nice to know that you find it funny that your countryman are homeless and sleeping in a restaurant. Of course you missed the point to the AIDS one, because China is miles behind the US in knowledge and prevention of the disease hence if you can knock the US the US can find plenty to knock China about.

I'll spell it out for you. Don't criticize other countries when yours is not perfect.

I've heard the darker the fur, the better the dog tastes.

I work with two women originally from China. They hated it so much, they filed for and became American Citizens. I'll ask them what they think of dog meat when I get a chance (I already know what they think of China)

From what i hear eating cat meat is a delicacy and also rather rare in china same with dog meat.

Carnivores arent as cheap to feed for food. Thats why people in the west arent use to the idea of eating them china has gone through periods of starvation were people have had to eat anything.

I had zibra not too long ago that was ok bit like horse but less tough but still too tough.wouldnt wanna eat cats or dogs because there cute though.

Nothing wrong with a little bushmeat. Hell, back in 2000 I ate one of my neighbors' German Shepherds... and I love dogs.

On a dare I ate something like a dog teriyaki with fried rice while I was in PI. From what I remember it tasted pretty good.

But then again in Beirut we use to dare each other to eat C-rations from the 60's.....

Now I see your point. Actually China has reacted very quickly, unlike USA that allowed many thousands of gays and others to die as treatment didnt fit your right wing doctrine of ther time. As you are conservative I suppose you OK with that.

You are correct, the darker the meat suppose the better the taste (though i never see real difference on few times i taste)

Yes you are quite right, cat and dog meat more a delicacy these days. Dog meat is more common in North and places like Korea.

I think we eat might be due to previous history, but I think we Chinese have always enjoyed food free from "emotional" attachments.

I remember when i first start to travel and visit peoples homes, stores etc and was shocked at the "frozen meat". We had no such concept in China and was amazed people not worried about age of the meat. Though we eat anything in China, it must always be fresh meat.
