Does your avatar picture have a personal meaning or is it just a pic you like? Mine's a picture my wife took on our honeymoon- I like it for here because it's kind of anonymous in that it's pretty much just a silhouette.
Also, do you think the choice of an avatar says anything about the poster?

DP = Debate Politics . . . I was fooling around with my Gimp art program.

I change it randomly - sometimes my images are part of nerdy psychology experiments - like when I had a skewed porn shot and waited to see if anyone recognized it. LOL

Mine is just common socialist images.

Well, until now, I didn't have an avatar.
So I got one.
Hokey sci-fi movie poster.
Not so good....too small...I'll work on it.
I doubt the avatar says much about it's owner.
I do find TGND's avatars stimulating, though.

Mine is a picture from the DMZ separating North and South Korea. I guess I liked it because it serves as a reminder that despite our whimsical debates here, the reality in some places in the world is anything but whimsical. The picture shows South Korean soldiers in their iconic ROK Steady (Republic Of Korea) stance, just meters away from their North Korean counterparts. It is also a visual metaphor representing the struggle of a free society against the tyranny of dictatorship. I had the privilege to visit this place a few years ago, and it's a sobering experience. For me, on this forum, it reminds me that even though our society is not perfect and the US makes mistakes (and some of them dramatic), it is important for us to remember who we are and who our friends are in this world and support them. It also reminds me to resist those who would bash our country casually from abroad as they largely reap the benefits of the order in the world that we have struggled for over the last 50+ years.

yeah. i'm a hippie peacenik, minus the weed part. and my hair is cropped short. oh, and i also like dressing sharply.

wait

My avatar is a drawing attributed to Friedrich Engels of Max Stirner, the Western thinker whose influence is perhaps the most directly inversely correlated with his importance. Marxism, for instance, is unthinkable without Marx's critique of Stirnerian individualism in The German Ideology; Nietzsche probably read him; Camus certainly did, and wrote a chapter on Stirner in his The Rebel. He's entirely too individualistic for American 'individualists', of course.

I liked mine as I thought it looked a bit like me, but a younger, snappier me...I think people do pick certain avatars for a reason, either how they see themselves or what they believe in...:2wave:

Mine doesn't really mean anything, other than I am a fan of Vin Diesel movies (well some of them). When I started shaving my head some of my friends said I was going for the "Vin Diesel" look. This amused me so I put a scene from Pitch Black as my avatar.

Your wife has some talent, it's a great picture.

Mine tend to be images of characters who catch my interest in some way. I am overdue to change again, I tend to change avatars every couple months.

My avatar used to be just a full moon, but I changed it in honor of Christmas last year. I'm lazy so I never changed it. Hey...it's almost Christmas again, right?

Anyway, the avatar goes along with my forum name and the first line of my sig.

Just decided on a question mark, because I wanted to use this forum to challenge my arguments and those of others.
