Does poverty causes overpopulation or vice versa?

Empirically and historically, as a population become more wealthy, more educated, and with access to better nutrition and health care, fertility rates decline dramatically. So as a general proposition, the answer seems to be yes.
 
I would say it has more to do ith education. A recent trend in the less developed countries is that for every 2 years of education a women has, she will have one less child. Seems that it doesn't matter how poor you are as long as you are educated.
 
Think of it this way... You are poor, you've got no money for the movies, so what are you going to do on Friday nights? :D
 
Can't go see a movie or out to dinner.Might as well stay home and smack da wifes ass a bit....LOL
