Regardless if wearing the flag is against the law, even you would have to agree that wearing it is a sign of extreme patriotism--similar in fashion to the draping of millions of mini flags on automobiles in support of our Middle East war efforts. Was there a law against attaching the flag to our autos?

If you'd ever actually read the Flag Code, you'd know the answer to your last question.

But no, while the intent may be to show patriotism, I don't think it's very patriotic to be disrespectful to the flag like that, nor do I think it's patriotic to break a law.

My voting record is as red as it is blue. I pick candidates not parties or nutso ideologies. I live in Chicago. It is a workers city that is down to earth. Chicago is a Democrat stronghold and for 100 years has been ruled by the Democratic party. Chicago is a great city. We have two major league baseball teams, a professional football team, two professional hockey teams and an NBA franchise team. These teams play half of their games at home. At all of those games the flag is saluted and the national anthem sung. Millions of people go through this ritual all the time here. May that "kid" guy lives in China or something but the statement is either bat **** nuts or dumb as a sack of hammers. God those kinds of people who make those outrageous statements make me feel like a genius.

Certainly the Democratic Party is suffering and has been for some time. Their inability to find anything but "Madison Ave" type people. Their elitism before the rank and file has estranged them from the responsible rank in file followers has hurt them. They cannot find a person to represent the average American and as a party they offer few solutions. The only person of caliber among these glitzy candidates they have fielded so far is Mike Gravel and he is far to old and far to unpopular with those who foist candidates on the American people.

That said the republicans are just as bad off. They have stumbled into far too many scandals and the corruption both political and moral they have found themselves surrounded by has diminished their stature. The present administration is inept, far to secretive and does not stand for very many of the traditional conservative points. Their blatant disregard, even speaking out ludicrously, for the Constitution has pulled the party of the Constitution far from it's traditional standards in that respect. Here the only man I see with an interest in the American people is Fred Thompson and he is far too much of a dark horse at the moment. Actually he has many points that put him close to the down to earth candidacy of Gravel.

It's time for a make over by both parties. The Democrats have fallen prey to the minority far left and the republicans are being controlled by the neo-conservative movement. Both are extreme and of little value to the average American. We have become used to these two parties and have developed some strange notion that political parties are forever. That hasn't been so before and no it is time for a change. And while I'm at it get rid of the electoral college. this device is out modded and useless in todays world. I am afraid that 2008 will simply be another case of "selling the presidency" taking place by two elitist groups who claim, falsely, to represent America, the American people and American ideas. We have suffered a growing crisis in US leadership for the past 47 years and it is coming to a head now.
