Umm what other company does oil well fixing, defense contracting, and infrastructure rebuilding all under one roof but Halliburton?

Please let us see a lower bidder so you people can stfu finally!

My point is...do they have to make billions in profit? I don't expect them to supply services at a loss, but to make such obscene profits is not helping America, and certainly not the war effort.

In answer to your question; yes, I surmise every Conservative knows that we are at war, and the liberals may need another 9/11 wake up call before the message starts to sink in. And this new Democratically controlled Congress isn't about to tell the liberal populace about our war in Iraq.

I am sure people will notice it if they check the budget..
Nah. They'll see the huge expenditures in entitlement/welfare programs -- 3x defense spending -- and wonder why anyone would ever respond as you just did.

this is funny. you had Democrats out there talking all day up and down about the war in Iraq. were Republicans pushing it or campaigning on it? not so much. And Representatives and Senators of every persuasion are talking about the war every day now. this makes no sense.

... it's like no other war we have ever fought IE one in which we too get hit.

You're mistaken. There was something called the "war on terror" in the 19th century. look it up. The US Government was involved. but it isn't remembered now as a "war." Why is that?

and what about the Barbary Pirates? the Navy was there, but those actions are also not remembered as a "war." now, why do you think that is? and, weren't pirates like today's terrorists?

The current situation now with the current "war on terror" is like these other "wars."

Afghanistan.
Taliban [symbol for does not equal]al Qaeda. And before you start up with "supporters of" jargon, I'll remind you that the US once supported bin Laden.

the war on terror does not resemble conventional wars. it should stop being referred to as such. the current "war on terror" is indeed like "wars" we have fought before.

They realize we are at war. they realize that we have had over 50,000 wounded and killed in Iraq. They realize we are responsible for all the death and misery presently going on in Iraq. They want our troops out of this contrived BS war. They want them protecting the United States. Some how America needs to get this very active Anti American Government out of Washington. In his speech on the war, Bush stood up and gave the United States the FINGER.

We may soon face a war with our own government, to reclaim America for America.

My Prayer,

Lord please bless the United States and help rescue us from W and return us to freedom and christianity.
In the name of Jesus Amen.

There, fixed that little part for you, but most of the rest of your post is cool. :)

No I don't think the general public thinks about war on a daily basis, I think they ignore it, I think they ignore the troops and their families and the tragedies that we have suffered. I dont' think they care about our pay or our children or our lives in general, I dont' think they have idea of the kind of tension that we live with every single day, day in and day out. And I don't think they care either way.
I don't think the media has focused enough on the troops and what this is doing to them and their families and military effectiveness as a whole. I don't think the public has seen enough of those who died or enough of those who are injured. I also don't think the media or public has focused enough on Afghanistan.
You know you all can't even keep on this topic, whether you agree if it's a war or not it's a moot point, our troops are there, many of them on their third and fourth deployments looking at their fifth and sixth deployments because there is no end in sight, there's no plan, there's no hope, there's nothing. And the public doesn't care.

Here's what I think:

The masses aren’t sacrificing anything materially for this war because the administration hasn’t really asked them to. The administration will not ask because that would cause people to start weighing how much all this means to them. Right now, it ain’t costing the common man ****, so who cares? But once he starts having to pay for Bush’s Bungle, the president would be repudiated faster than you can say “blow job.”
