Since we fought these vermon in WWII, logic would dictate that any American who became a nazi is a traitor to this country for taking up one of our enemy's causes and any Britian who became a nazi would be a traitor to Britian and so on.

They're certainly traitors to the ideas that America stands for. I don't think people should be punished for their beliefs though.

I don't think beliefs alone can ever amount to treason. Actions define treason.

So siding with the enemy and taking up their cause is not treason?

Not necessarily. The following is the first definition listed by webster for treason;

Violation of allegiance toward one's country or sovereign, especially the betrayal of one's country by waging war against it or by consciously and purposely acting to aid its enemies.

You forgot to highlight that part.

Please explain why supporting nazi policy is any more of a violation as supporting liberalism would be.

It would behoove us to remember that over 50 million people perished during WWII... either actively fighting the Third Reich or as victims of Nazi subjugation.

From this vantage point in time the proposition that Nazism is grossly repugnant is inescapable. Ergo, those who embrace this ideology are morally corrupt and repugnant individuals.

We fought the indians as well, is support for Indian Reservations an act of treason?

We fought the british, then fought on there behalf in several wars after. Were those treason?

Did we fight the nazis because they were nazis, or because they declared war on us?

The whole matter is a catch-22 anyway.

The idea that we can speak our mind is a key platform for this country. Claiming that some things we say could be am act of treason because it would violate another key platform of our country is circular in nature.

Its not the same thing because the Nazis are the same, the Indians are not.The last time I checked we did not sign any treaties with nazi filth,we do not have nazi filth on our coins,we have not named any towns cities rivers after nazis, nor are there any football teams named after nazis.

We fought the british, then fought on there behalf in several wars after. Were those treason?

The last time I checked the British having given up their goals of reclaiming the USA back.

Did we fight the nazis because they were nazis, or because they declared war on us?

The Nazis are our enemies.Hiltler was our enemy ,nazi filth follow hitler's beliefs.

Siding with a enemy's core ideology is treason it would be the same if today a American became a member of Al qaeda

I'm not sure that is true but frankly I'm no expert on American Nazis.

I do recall stories of Prescott Bush and other well to do industrialists being in support of the nazi party prior to them declaring war though.

It seems to me that once the war ended, the war against the ideology did as well. And considering that American Nazis aren't being rounded up and tried for treason, the courts agree with me.

Essentially though, my role as devils advocate isn't as enjoyable at 2:30am as it was at 12:30am so that is the end of my role in this debate (for tonight atleast)

This my sound cold but to me right here and now the only good Nazi is a dead one. They cost the world 10's of millions of people.

It seems to me that the answer is no. I by no means agree with that ideology, but it would be unreasonable to label anyone who joined a so-called "Nazi" group a traitor.

cherokee, I cannot agree with your statement "only good Nazi is a dead one", even though I am tempted to do so.
At the least, doing so would take away a valuable reminder of how not to conduct oneself.

Nazis were our enemy in WWII they still follow the same man who wanted to destroy our way of life. They are no different than a American pledging his alligiance to Al Qeada.

I think vermon like the ACLU allowed these scum and terrorist like the KKK to run around loose in the country.I think the ACLU will proably try to make it so Al Qeada can run around loose in our country too.

Whatever..

If we are talking about Nazi soldiers of WWII or even people today who wish to be like them then I still say "The only good Nazi is a dead one."

Maybe this is an age difference thing, maybe you don’t know many people who served in WWII, I don’t know but what I do know is what carnage they inflicted upon the world and the millions of lives they took.
Maybe you can forgive them, I wont.

But what the hell lets kick it up a notch..
The only good AL QAEDA , HAMAS and HEZBOLLAH members are DEAD ones. Live and let live does not apply to these people..
