Okay, on the incredibly miniscule, sub-atomically small chance you're not trolling, here's why you're link was pants on head retarded. And just for the record, you could have spared yourself the embarrassment (unless you're trolling, in which case you're achieving your objective right now) by first going to wikipedia to understand discrimination.
Your decision to link to the DP home page was poo-in-hair stupid because Christians aren't being prevented from participating on Debate Politics!
Do you understand that now, or do you need a six year old to draw a picture for you?
Uncle Sal is gay. That's kind of why I showed him this thread.
You haven't demonstrated how you as a Christian are being discriminated against. Have you ever been denied housing because you are a Christian? I've been denied housing because I am black. How about being denied employment because of your religion?I know what it's like being denied a job because of my color. How many times have you been stopped by the cops for "driving while Christian"? And let's not go into all the b.s. me and my wife still go through for being an inter-racial married couple. Do you really want to get into a pissing contest about discrimination with a guy who was a young lad in the Deep South in the 50's and 60's? I agree with Cardinal in that you don't know what real discrimination is.
So anonymous people on the internet, not taking crap from other anonymous people on the internet equates to discrimination, but only if it's on a religious topic and not on a political topic???
Look at the abortion forum or gun forum...is there discrimination happening there????
A link to the forum proves that christians are discriminated against? Oh man, that is side slapping funny. Get back to us when you actually have something.
Do you think they are?
Read the following posts after than one ok? See if you can see what I'm saying better than Cardinal.
Why do you think that I'm Christian? Because I'm saying that they are being discriminated against? Guess what, I'm not Christian. If you do a quick search of my posts on religion you will find that I have stated previously that I personally am against all forms of organized religion.
I'll admit that I did assume with your Uncle. And I do apologize for that. But in my defense you only mentioned racial discrimination.
As for me being discriminated against? Yes I have been discriminated against. I've been denied state health insurance at the welfare office because I was a single white guy aged 24 (at the time). And yes, I was specifically told that by the welfare office woman I was talking to. I've also been denied jobs due to my criminal history. I've also been denied housing due to my criminal history. I am also denied my right to own a gun for self protection because of my criminal history. I know what discrimination is. I know that discrimination comes in far more forms than just those handled by affirmative action laws and somebodies narrow view of what discrimination is. Perhaps I know what it is better than either you or Cardinal because of the ways in which I've been discriminated against that isn't protected by the laws.
So yeah, lets go ahead and get into a pissing contest. I guarantee you that I'm no push over.
I'm not here to do your homework for you. Either you provide evidence of direct discrimination or you do not... so far you have not. I see you twisting and turning about nonsense on a forum, but all that is meaningless. I want real world examples here in the USA.
Do you even realize what it is that I linked to? You've been here for 7 years. Do you remember how this forum used to look? Do you remember that the Religion and Philosophy sections used to be combined? Now...do you remember WHY those two were separated and why the religion section has a special rule set? I remember.
Your post here was a perfect example of reacting before thinking. You've done the same thing through out this entire thread.
So you are being discriminated not because of your beliefs, but because you were once a criminal. Maybe you shouldn't have committed crimes in the past. The past have a way of coming back and haunting people. That lady from the welfare office should have been fired. I work with a prison work-release program providing employment in my restaurants and catering company to give model prisoners a second chance in life.
I was never a criminal, and never been arrested for committing a crime. Yet I've still been discriminated many times throughout the decades. If you accuse Cardinal and others of narrowing down the definition of discrimination, then It would seem you are broadening the definition of discrimination to the point that it becomes meaningless. All discrimination is horrible, but some are worse than others. One cannot compare what you one goes through on an open internet forum to being denied employment because of color or belief.
Debate Politics is based in the USA.
Its fine, if you don't want to acknowledge it that is of course up to you. But I did provide evidence. If you won't accept it or debate it then that is on you. Not me.
Yup, I remember why, because you had a lot of whiny religious asshats who couldn't handle the fact that others were able to question their blind faith and doubt their idiotic conclusions so DP decided to coddle the immature little children and give them their own section where they could be protected in their own little echo chamber.
And you act like that's a good thing.
Actually the Mods came up with the idea because they saw what was going on. Had nothing to do with "whiny religious asshats". Had to do with exactly the reason that I said.
I do find your post funny though. You just proved my point regarding how religious members on DP are treated and why the religion and philosophy sections got seperated. Thanks!
Linking to the DP homepage as some sort of evidence of discrimination against Christians is no different than if you asked me for evidence of discrimination against minorities and I linked to a picture of the United States and did a mic drop. I think even you should be able to see why that kind of response would be awful.
Actually, you just completely defeated your own point, because rather than the forum moderators condoning the treatment given to Christians, they went a step in the opposite direction and gave Christians a safe room where they couldn't receive negative treatment at all. But then, you seem to be operating on the idea that discrimination means "rude treatment," which of course anyone knows is absolutely not what it means.

A link to this site is evidence of nothing.
Why should the Moderators condone the treatment given to Christians? Last I knew the rules of this place demanded civility do they not? For example, going by your "logic" here it would be perfectly acceptable for someone to tell someone that is not a US resident to stop posting non-US matters on an American forum. Yet going by how Moderators work we would find such a stance discriminatory and at the very least warn that person not to do such again. (I've done it before). That would be discriminatory to you to yes? Well, I hope that you would think so anyways. Well, the same thing was happening with Christians on this board. There were some that were just as direct as my example. And others that would purposely seek out any religious threads and bash those that were religious in order to purposely disrupt a conversation.
And no, I am not operating on the idea that discrimination is "rude treatment". I'm operating on the idea that discrimination is something which one person or a group of persons favor or disfavor someone or a group of someone's because of a certain aspect that they either like or dislike.
Believe it or not, even as a publicly avowed atheist I don't actually begrudge the creation of a "safe room" for Christians. It doesn't bother me and there's no reason why it should. If fellow posters are being rude to the point that discussion on a topic becomes untenable, then I support extraordinary measures in venues such as this one that bring civility back to the forum. A great example of where I think "martial law" should be applied, as in the I.P. forum, is the environment subforum where paid shills have drowned out the discussion so that it's effectively become a demilitarized zone, but I'm starting to rant, so back on topic. Point being, the
The problem is you're working off a definition of discrimination that has zero bearing on this topic. Yes, there is "discriminating taste," such as I prefer that cake over the other one, but that has nothing to do with things like workplace discrimination, or discriminating against customers based on their religion/ethnicity/etc., which has specific parameters [mostly] understood in law. You're confusing the definition of discrimination with a social and legal one.

I don't think stopping people of color for driving is discrimination, is it? I thought it was racial profiling.
It's possible to deny a Christian a job or other accommodation. You just can't admit to doing it. I think the way some people acted about those pizza parlor owners proves that many people absolutely detest Christians who hold Christian beliefs. There's no reason to believe they aren't discriminated against. Everyone belongs to a subset of society that someone doesn't like.
