Do you agree America has become largely enslaved to the right-wing media machine?

OK We agree that the narrative put out by the media was false.
I'm not sure what fantasy you are reliving there but I never said that.

When I think of the founding fathers, I think of people who put their trust in the people, to care about the good of the country, about justice, to have common sense. To self-rule better than they could be ruled.

The country they were in was as if from another planet compared to today. It was largely homogenous, 90% rural, made of people mostly with little education, with no powerful corporations, no 'propaganda machine' more sophisticated than a newspaper writer, no organized political machines. Just the equivalent of a small town without radio, the tv, or the internet.

What I'm seeing today is tens of millions of Americans who don't vote like Americans then would. Rather, I see them enthralled by propaganda, making them not care about rational policies, about morals, about 'the public good', but whipped into a frenzy listening to pundits - Hannity, Carlson, and many more - who use sophisticated advertising methods to turn them into a horde for Republican power.

When they vote, it's with years of daily mind control to hate Democrats and to get them to link Republicans with all the good words like 'liberty' and 'freedom', to make them emotionally feel like they are voting for saving the country from destruction, while they're actually voting pretty much for that destruction.

The worst the Republican party has to worry about is that their voters are unhappy with the Republican politicians also - and I see a lot of Republicans who say bad things about Republican politicians - but the propaganda machine leaves the voters where are still hugely convinced to vote against Democrats, who are far worse to them.

What we have now is a country with tens of millions of those people who are enthralled and led around by the nose to support the messages in the propaganda. It's a badly corrupted system where the policies don't get to the public to even much view them much less discuss them, but are carefully crafted behind closed doors to be passed, while the voters pull the lever with the stage show convincing them. This is not democracy, it's pretend democracy.

The very idea of the democracy the founders created where the politicians represent the voters is clearly silly now, as the Republican Party's actual agenda is written by corrupt and cynical officials who have an iron grip over the elected officials, as Congress spends half its time fundraising, and most go into lobbying for a payout for loyal service to donors when they leave office.

And in that situation, it's not surprising that voters feel democracy isn't useful to them - that 'winning' and having power is more important than democracy which risks the enemy winning, and the propaganda has them feeling like they are winning if the Republican Party does, even though they're mostly not except for some pandering. So the phrase 'end of democracy to seize power' doesn't have reason to sound very scary to them. It's them getting power, they think.

Their lack of support for democracy can be seen increased when you consider their view that the voters for the enemy are mostly those non-white people they feel are 'taking over the country', that they feel the numbers of those non-white people that can take power leave them living under the rule of the enemy, not that fellow good Americans vote for the other side. And the propaganda keeps them in line. This is our democracy.

Washington would shoot the average republican on sight. Fascism always appeals to a mythical past and rarely lives up to past values

I'm not sure what fantasy you are reliving there but I never said that.
??? I said the story put out by the media was a false narrative and you replied "It was."

People are not as educated as we'd like to think... So they "default to anything that promotes Drama Antics" and they spin it into madness, trying to pretend they are smart.
When it shows how gullible and foolishly easily led...
People make themselves like Pavlov's Dog.... Ring the Drama Bell and they start salivating.
1651792995265.png

The greater majority of people "don't read" anything of Political Fact of Bills and Measures... Republicans are whipped into a frenzy by people who got into office by "spinning attack something drama". Too many Democrats like to get caught in the "drama circle", rather than address the Narratives that Promote Democratic Principles and Values.
  • General white society was groomed for decades to "shut up and suck up what ever right winger say".... it goes back to the days of Jim Crow, when white people were afraid to call out the Right Wing Segregationist Bigots.
  • Too many did not what to be known as someone who spoke out against White Nationalism.
  • They resorted to "Hush Mentality'...
  • We saw it for 100+ yrs, where they went along with it, "because they were focused on the benefits they could gain" by not saying anything against the Right Wing Segregationist Bigots.

Today, there is a Hush Mentality, because too many are afraid they won't "get access to easy money jobs" and "other things they consider white privilege", but then try and deny it when they are called on it.
  • It's why there is so much "WAFFLING"...
Women have long adopted the "Hush Mentality" to try and keep the Right Wing Bigots from "calling them names".
  • They adopted the, "just don't say anything, which was nothing more than another way of saying "I submit". Only recently have then began to speak out about the sexual abuse, and they only spoke out, because "Celebrities made it acceptable". Before that, they submissively went into 'Hush Mentality".

It's the craziest cycle of madness ever... and its 'white people" who keep the cycle of madness going, and then too many claim they want it to stop, but won't say or do anything to help stop it. They instead buy into "spinning in any circle behind Right Wing Narratives'.

It's time for Democrats to PUT MORE EFFORT AND ACTIVITY TO create their own narratives based on
TRUTH AND FACTS, and educate society not to get caught up in "right wing media narratives".

Michigan state Sen. Mallory McMorrow - knows how to stand up and speak you

The problem is how much it comes down to the volume of the propaganda machine, and Democrats just can't compete with Heritage/AEI/Cato/Hoover/Fox/talk radio/OAN/Epoch/Examiner/WSJ editorial/etc. The fact rights haven't read this far before they list NYT/CNN/AP/PBS/ABC/CBS/NBC and think they proved something proves my point, since they think that's 'partisan left'. Democrats need to attack Republicans better.

maybe for old ****ers.

"I think it’s become clear that fairness is overrated ... the idea that we should always give two sides equal weight and merit does not reflect the world we find ourselves in" Lester Holt

Spiking of the Hunter Biden laptop.
Oh look, honesty from a left wing journalist. No doubt we'll be seeing Fox News types jumping on the 'admission to bias' bandwgon right smartly. Eloquently worded, selflessly honest, realistically pragmatic, all those things weve learned to expect from Fox.
Or not.

The Real Problem is the Willful Ignorance of American People. People are simply not educated enough to know how to live in a Representative Democracy.

Congress Jobs is to "Debate Policy Agenda and Legislation" to reach a WORKABLE COMPRIMISE... NOT ... FIGHT AS OBSTRUCTIONIST on the Federal, State and Local Level...within the political offices.

America's Problem is we have TOO MANY WHITE MEN IN POLITICS.

Politics need full "diversity" both race, gender and ethnicity.

That's the only way we stop these white men from their continous "Feudalism" and Barbaric Assault upon Representative Democracy.

American White Men, ESPECIALLY REPUBLICANS, know nothing but "Attack and Chase Power"... when they get it, they do nothing but "continue to fight, as they turn their fight from each other, to fighting against the public and the better benefits for the nation".

Right Wing Minded White Men in America have been fighting Civil and Civic Minded White Men for over 200+ yrs,
1651834927171.png
and then fighting against the public and the better benefit for the public... and for Centuries and Decades engaged in Race and Gender Fights against Minorities and Women.

The Real Problem is the Willful Ignorance of American People; who continue to aid and support this madness by the ignorance within how they vote.

While these fights rage on, the wealthy do all they can to amass more wealth and keep the working class agitated, frustrated and fleeced... and decades after decades the people submit themselves to the same game of being agitated, frustrated and fleeced. It's a Circle of Stupidity.

This is the result of a General Population living of "Folklore passed from an Uneducated Ancestry"..

People DON'T KNOW what a Representative Democracy is within a Republic Form of Governance. Just a mass of people groomed to be barbaric and in a constant cycle of feudalism. That's what their ancestry came from, and that what they continue doing over all these 100's of years.

White People can't shift the blame anywhere except upon these groups of white people who have for 100's of Years Held The Positions.

When it comes to the inflationary madness upon the economy
Again, its "white people"

TRUTH

Until
WORKING CLASS WHITE PEOPLE Stop allowing these people to pit you against each other
and
Start calling out these white people for their pugulistic mentality, and stand up and demand these white people cease the greed gouging and respect America and American Working Class.... Nothing will change!!

They have been damaging America's Civic and Civil and Economic Society for 100's of Years. They make the decision that causes National Debt and they make the decisions that create and cause inflation.

(The big problem is white working class have been groomed to submit themselves to this repeated cycle)

It's time for working class white people to stop dodging the truth, stand up and realize that same truth is the reason why their lives are in constant chaos and economically challenged

Yep. It's nearly impossible to discuss any issue outside the way that Fox News has framed it.
Perfect example: In the past 2 days, senator Ted Cruz (R) has been on Fox and 3 or 4 other right wing media outlets screaming that the SC draft was leaked by a sniveling POS democrat.

That's the very type of lie that takes hold and picks up steam before anyone can debunk it. Ted Cruz has no idea who leaked the draft and is flat out lying. Even if Cruz is proven wrong, a certain group of right wingers will continue to believe it. Just like Trump's 'Big Lie'

The OP has many valid points.

Since the goal is to distract from the draft, Cruz increases the 'noise' by not just saying 'oh, it's bad it was leaked', which gets more of a yawn, and hams up his act with serious tones saying he demands that the leaker be charged and put in jail for a long time.

He says that knowing full well no law was broken by the leak - which further shows how 'phony' his comments are and serving the propaganda goal. Bottom line - Cruz reinforcing to his followers, 'Democrats, criminals, need to jail', while distracting them from their rights being taken. It works. Ask his followers what the issue is with the Roe ruling, and they'll say "THOSE DEMOCRAT CRIMINALS NOT GETTING CASUGHT".

They don't, in the sense that they just show the 'performers', the public faces, the hired minions, but not the 'powers' pulling their strings - the dark money donors, the political machine that directs the politicians. It's analogous to saying trump is behind the corruption of the court because he nominated three, without the decades of efforts by thousands for the project, the big money and Federalist Society and so on, where's trump's role was trivial.

Democrats need to educate Republicans that they are being lied to and conned. It's not easy, but as long as the right-wing propaganda has control of them, they'll support the corruption.

There is no such thing as a "right-wing media machine" as only a small handful of stations cater to Republicans compared to the dozens, possibly hundreds, of left-wing media outlets, newspapers, and magazines that cater to democrats/liberals.

Granted that Fox News' rating beat CNN and MSNBC combined by a large margin, but there are no self=proclaimed renowned worldwide US newspapers favorable to the GOP like the NYT and WaPo that democrats can count on to never print a disparaging or negative word about democrats or their policies, results, or activities. They will however trash any and all Republicans or GOPO policies for everything and anything.

Hopefully, as more people seek a civil remedy for tens or hundreds of millions of dollars from these so-called renowned media outlets, they will tone down their rhetoric and lies as they are finally beginning to realize that they are not untouchable.

Rittenhouse's highly anticipated civil suits will show the entire world this in the months to come as he obtains judgments from media outlets and others for billions of dollars for the many repeated lies made about him by left-wing media and others.

Yet another politically driven push narrative thread, absent of reality and fact from Craig234.

Seriously? Most of the media is strongly controlled by the far leaning left ideology. The people who what to do away with democracy are left wing extremist within the democrat party. Cancel culture is a democrat thing. The democrats don't want a vote from the citizens of the nation on abortion, they want the court to rule it a constitutional right. The poles show a majority of americans want abortion to remain a right but with restrictions. Democrats want abortion on demand with no restrictions and they want it their way even though the majority of Americans want restrictions. So the democrats just want what they want.

Yup, but I'd like to raise a bigger idea, the idea of 'distributed morality', meaning when an important moral act has its pieces divided among people so no one tends to feel the moral weight. A classic example is an execution, where the executioner can 'just be carrying out the sentence', and the judge, prosecutor, jury, police each only have a bit of the process. The politicians are essentially hired actors for a part where because they're the public face, they get a lot more of the blame than is justified, because they're usually 'just following orders' and have little choice in the matter but to quit where someone else would do the same thing. We want to blame them more because it's reassuring to feel like it's people making the choices, people we see, rather than a massive systemic situation where the people 'in charge' are of little relevance. I've made a similar point about the limitations CEOs face.

If I look up at the so-called smart tv, I have four stations with rolling lines at the bottom at the moment.

CNN, AMVO, Newsmax, E$PN

I Agree.... BUT... the Candidate should have "integrity" and "ethical principles" LONG BEFORE they consider pursuing political office. (SADLY, pursuit of political office is based on "money gathering", very few get there without big donors, the ones who get there by small donations from lots of people are more likely not to be the "water carriers" for a big donor.

We should _ MANDATE PUBLIC CAMPAIGN FINANCING, FEDERAL, STATE AND LOCAL. And we should eliminate politician created "campaign war chest".
Then, we would not have people in elected office, on a "fund raising mission before they are even sworn in and we would not have them spending their whole elected term chasing "campaign funds".

If I were a politicians, among the first things I'd do, is let people know....
  • The Simple History of Segregation in America: It was not just racial it was financial, and just as blacks were segregated from whites, working class and poor whites were segregated from well to do and wealthy whites.
  • Then, I'd explain to people, that Political Parties, are not covered in The Constitution, they are nothing more than Organized Lobbyist Groups... Not much different than Organized Gangsters when they submit themselves to do the bidding for wealthy Donors.
I would let them know:
  • Democrats Party puts, people and nation before business and Industry, they understand it is people who make business and industry thrive, and as business and industry thrives so must the people also thrive.
  • Republican Party puts business and industry before people and nation. they think business and industry should rule over people and control their life standards, to keep them desperately working for low wages to try and keep up, so they can control people through their despair.

The idea of "integrity" for most (all federal I think except on narrow issues for a few) Republican politicians is beyond naive, since they have a job requirement to not have it much at all. It's like expecting a guy in the mafia to decide to help people instead of committing crimes. Pretending there's any reason to expect integrity helps hide the issue from people who need to understand it better.

The economy is going gangbusters. Look at the numbers. Yes yes, we all know there's inflation, it's currently a worldwide issue.

I ask again, what propaganda?
The propaganda that the economy is doing gangbusters.

A year ago, 54% of Americans said the economy was good. Just 45% said it was bad.

Today, 23% say it is good, and a super majority of 77% believe it is bad. You'd have to go back a little over 10 years to find as many Americans saying the economy was in as bad shape

That’s a huge drop for a gangbusters economy

Largely? Arguable. To disagreeable amounts, yes!
