Do we really need to debate this?

Are we really trying to figure out who to vote for individually and nationally? I can give you a pass for 2016 begrudgingly because I know right wing media has been after the Clintons since 92 and if you watch that crap you have been indoctrinated. But now after over three years of daily madness, after countless examples of Trumps unfitness for the office and you still want to vote for him, that I cannot excuse. I have notified my facebook friends that if they are Trump supporters, I want nothing to do with them. The gulf between us is too wide, it is like rooting for the guys who beat protesters in Selma. There is no moral case for wanting Trump to continue his assault on everything all of us have cherished for generations. You can spout some silly argument until your fingers ache but decent people have had enough. The world has had enough. What is the source of your rage? Why are you so angry and bitter? You must dig into yourself and ask those questions before you can regain any sense of worth to me and countless millions. No, I will not forgive you for voting for him, I will do anything I can to prevent us from suffering another four years of this insanity. Are you a good person or not? That is the essential question each of us must ask before voting.

What's wrong with wanting:

-lower taxes,
-secure borders and enforcement of our immigration laws,
-people not to loot and destroy businesses,
-the government not to use our antitrust laws to harm American companies, in favor of protecting foreign companies,
-allow state governments to decide how to deal with Covid for their own people, or
-our 2nd Amendment rights protected from idiotic do-nothing laws?

when was it black and white before?

there weren't many shades of grey about getting into WWII when we did, for one. as a pacifist, that's one war about which i can say, "well, what the **** else were they going to do about it?"

What does that have to do with politics?

please don't answer

Lots wrong here but I am too tired to get into it.

low tax, can't pay bills
state governments can't stop interstate travel so a nation response is necessary or a state can't be successful
2nd is causing 3rd world slaughter

Increasing military spending
right wing nominees to the federal courts
trying to protect Christians.

Plenty of reasons to support President Trump no matter how horrible a person he is.

That's very passionate and quite clearly stated.

It's also completely hyperbolic, absolutely irrational and just plain mean spirited. I have no idea how politics can play so central a role in people's lives that they feel a need to lash out at others just because of a political disagreement. If politics is really that important to you then I'll be disappointed, but not offended, that you have crossed me off your Christmas card list.

12 posts per day for 8 years on a political forum and you have the nerve to post this?

What is the price of lower taxes? In the case of the Trump administration, it is extremely high deficiet, the gutting of protections for the middle class, the favoring of corporations over people.

What is the effectiveness of 'building a wall'.. Zero, szilch, nada. However, we got children locked up in cages, so that's something at least.

Now, people looting and destroying business. That is the scream of those without a voice. When people are getting killed by police without justification, and no one listens to them, then you will get the rage. When merchandiser is worth more than people, you get the rage.

Now, when it comes to teh anti-trust laws, it's protecting the corporations, not people. Where do people come into the equation, rather than just the ultra rich?

As for covid, there are some things that are better handled by the feds, rather than the states. What someone does in the next state over when it comes to an epidemic effect my state. Without a consistent standards through out the entire country, it's sort of like just say 'oh, you can only pee in the shallow end of the pool to keep it clean'

US Treasury tax receipts have increased every year since Trump took office
NY? NJ? MA? CT?
No it's not. That's pure nonsense.

See above, and:

"People getting killed by police without justification" has been happening throughout all of our history, but has been decreasing rapidly for the past 5 years. Cops are human, which means they make mistakes and some are just bad people. And anyway, taking your rage out on businesses and people trying to eat dinner is hardly going to further your cause.

People work for corporations. When their employers are harmed economically by over-zealous enforcement of antitrust laws against domestic companies, people lose their jobs.

Best post I have ever read here.

This is a struggle between good and evil, right and wrong. This is not about politics.

For the first time there is no grey, this is black and white.

Since when did not agreeing politically become good vs evil? When did ones opinion hold right and the other become an automatic wrong? That's the amazing thing, we are all Americans no matter our political lean. We vote, win, sometimes lose, we go to work and move forward with our lives. Somehow we are managing to do to ourselves what no other country on earth could do to us.

No matter who wins, the world will keep on spinning and I'll still get up and go to work, enjoy my family and friendships.

Wow, what a complicated way to advocate for going to war in Syria, eliminating the Bill Of Rights, and replacing capitalism with socialism.

Sorry you are "suffering" so much. Care to tell us how you are so terribly suffering? Is it physical? Psychological? Be specific.

You are allowed by your governor to go to work? Sorry to hear that as you might make more money if you are put on unemployment.

Today at a West Marine store I was stunned that almost all inventory was gone. The manager (I know well) said they can't get inventory. Why? The warehouse is in North Carolina and they are paying twice what employees made working to not work. They literally can not get employees to work at the warehouse, so they can't get inventory to the stores.

True about the police.

To you the problem is the mega billionaire and now trillionaire corporations aren't monopolistic enough?

RVAT wouldn't be a thing if Trump was a good president.
Need a reason to vote against Trump? Here's 113 of them.

Yes and your example is not an isolated incident in today's craziness. But my work comment was more a sentiment. Whether it is today, or after the election, as a people we wake up and show up.

The Democratic Party LOVES monopolies.

Elizabeth Warren minimally was on track to at least be the VP candidate, until she made the politically fatal mistake of saying she would break up Amazon and Google.

INSTANTLY, the Democratic MSM - CNN, MSNBC, CBS, ABC and press - NYT, LAT - all of them - were raging "Warren is too radical!" over and over and over and over. Her fund raising dropped to zero and she crashed in the polls. She has committed the unforgiveable since. NAMING rich people and companies in her ranting against the rich. Biden NEVER will do so. Ever. Never has. Not in 47 years.

To the contrary, Joe Biden met with millionaires and billionaires promising he would not raise their taxes and "nothing fundamentally will change" if he is elected, explaining he can't win without their support.

Immediately, the same MSM and press said Joe Biden will be the Democratic Party candidate and using covid-19 as an excuse cut off Bernie Sanders microphone (figuratively) declaring Biden has already locked down the nomination - when in fact without counting Democrat super delegates it was a dead heat and Warrens, Harris's and most other candidates voters were jumping to Sanders.

Joe Biden is the Democratic Party nominee because he sold his soul to the super rich. But remember, when he first ran for Congress he openly stated he will sell him self as a politician for votes. He literally said that. He always has. Still does. Joe Biden is for sale to the highest bidder - domestic or foreign. It is his entire political history.

Why are credit card interest rates as high as 36% and nearly all over 20%? Exactly one person - Joe Biden. He is who has always carried the water for the credit card companies. They bought him. You can't afford him.

Well it's because the Trump Cultists are dishonest and hypocritical. If Obama had tried 1/10th of what Trump has done, they would have lost their minds over it. I mean, the lost their minds over a tan suit, imagine if Obama had suggested that he'd adjourn Congress to get his way. You can almost hear their heads popping.

lol

If Obama had tried one one hundredth of what Trump has GOTTEN away with, he would have been assassinated.
In fact, if Obama had even HINTED at one one hundredth of it, he'd be deader than fried chicken.

Obama did 100 times more crap that Trump and completely got away with it. So did Biden. So did Clinton.

It's OK Johnny. We will have ponies and balloons later to help cope with such adversity

Quite the moronic response to an excellent post. This is one of a thousand reasons trump and his supporters need to be defeated.

A police state under the guise of law and order with trump going absolutely wild if reelected. That's what we will get.

It's not rooted in politics. It's rooted in economics.

The country I grew up with in the 60s and 70s was a country without the extremes of wealth and poverty that exist today, a society of broadly shared prosperity, partly because strong unions, a high minimum wage, and a progressive tax system helped limit inequality. It was also a society in which political bipartisanship meant something: in spite of all the turmoil of Vietnam and the civil rights movement, in spite of the sinister machinations of Nixon and his henchmen, it was an era in which Democrats and Republicans agreed on basic values and could cooperate across party lines.

Since the late 1970s the America I knew has unraveled. We’re no longer a middle-class society, in which the benefits of economic growth are widely shared: after 1979 the real income of the median household rose minimally, but the income of the richest 0.1% of Americans rose several hundred percent.

Ironically, income inequality ushered in Trumpism, that promised to address disaffected workers. Instead of addressing and reversing income inequality, Trumpism threw them a few crumbs while it lowered taxes on the rich and widened holes in the safety net, even as inequality has gotten worse. The rise of movement conservatism and Trumpism is also at the heart of the bitter partisanship that characterizes politics today, which attacks the fabric of Social Security and health care. There are no basic values that both sides can cooperate across party lines.

See my post just above. This is not just about politics any longer.

For me it's never been about him being Republican.
No, I don't LIKE living under a Republican presidency but it's not the end of the world for me, it's just not my preference.
This time around, yes it does feel like the end of the world, because it looks and sounds like the end of this country as I've known it for sixty-three years.
Authoritarianism and nationalism of the Trump stripe is not what this country has ever stood for.
And in the few fleeting moments in our history where it has, the country has suffered and failed in such dramatic fashion that the entire world felt the aftershocks.

We're the same age or close to it.
The country we grew up in was the tail end of The New Deal, which as you indirectly pointed out, came to a close with the dawn of the 1980's.

the line is clear, you are either a good person or not. As adults we have to make decisions. If you are still voting for Trump, I want nothing to do with you.

with about half of the votes headed in that direction, you get to make that choice

tho it does seem a juvenile approach to deciding with whom to interact
