Serious question: Do Republicans want peace or is there an incentive for them to keep us in conflict be it Iraq or supporting Israel in the fight against Hezzbollah?

Personally, I think that the Administration and Republicans in general are praying for the conflict between Israel and Hezzbollah to continue and for the Iraq war to go on for years. One - it keeps the focus off a stagnant economy, skyrocketing gas prices, etc. Two - the corporations that fund the party get richer as a result meaning more money to the GOP and its candidates.
Don't get me wrong. I do believe that there are some good people in the GOP, however, I also see that they stand a lot to gain both economically and politically by keeping the world at war.

Why would anyone seek "peace" when Islam is making war on them ?

Oh, gee, let me think. Yeah, it might be so that more people don't die. That could be a good reason.

"stagnant economy"?

Some conspiracy theories are laughable, and this is one of them.

It's inferred from your statement.

Islam is making war upon Western Civilization, and has been for a long long time.

Your statement in response to Voidwar is that we should make peace so more people don't die.

The only way you can make peace with a nation/organization/creed that is making war upon you is to surrender, or defeat them.

So to argue that we should make peace so more people don't die, and not argue that we should do what we must to win, is to argue that we should surrender.

If only the world were so simply stated, and social interactions were this easily defined. Unfortunately.....they are not.

***Sure looks like you're spending way too much time at Disney fantasy world. The mere fact that this prolonged war shows Republicans and Bush's polling numbers leveling out in the gutter would suggest that the sooner peace is reached (if ever) the sooner America and the rest of the world will benefit.

***What kind of smoke do they give you at Disney World? What stagnant economy? It happens to be booming. When corporations get richer, so does the American people (at least for those that believe in American Capitalism, and the millions of people that work for those corporations).

***Its not hard to get you wrong, you come across crystal clear as a far out left winger. While it is a fact that our country stands to benefit both economically and politically for the long haul from engaging in war, the alternative to war would be to listen to the democrats by cutting and running to instant defeat. I choose to keep the American fighting spirit that has brought us to this point in history, over the defeatist attitude that would render us to third world status, at best.

Ehh, wrong. You're falsely inferring things about my statement.
