I took a chance on an early date Standing Liberty Quarter on Ebay from Russia. It would be a $100 coin; I paid $20. It turns out to be a high quality counterfeit. The tell is that the metal is wrong. It's a cool conversation piece, but now the real ones I own seem less exciting.

Yes the higher quality counterfeits have made many things less enticing to own. Coins I wouldn’t put in that category though

I wouldn't feel that way at all, with something like a coin. Now a Cobra repli-car vs the real deal? Yeah. But not a coin.
