Do blacks care for their own community like other groups? If you look at the Americans donor class, they come from the majority of whites - Money, Food, Blood, Organs etc...

It just seems with the black community, it lacks a sense of community compared to other groups - Jews, Asians, Christians. It seems those groups have a much more well-organized infrastructure that looks out for their own.

I am not trying to start a controversial conversation, but when you look at some the top donors of minority causes, they are coming from older white males.

The top wealthy Jews in our country donate a lot of their wealth to Jewish-related causes. Shouldn't the Obama's for example, be donating the majority of their allocated money towards donations to black-related causes? Surprisingly, the majority of their donations are not going to black-causes. I would bet a lot of upper-class blacks are the same way.

These are some questions I ask myself and wonder why blacks in this country are not seeing as much progress as they should be making.

Most wealth is built over successive generations. Black families haven't had a many generations to build on, having only achieved relative parity into the last half century or so.
 

Are you purposely racist or willfully ignorant?

There are clear and obvious answers to your questions but if you ask such an ignorant a racist question there is no way you have the intelligence to understand the answer.

Address the topic, not the poster.
 

Go live in a third-world country for a while - and when you do so, live out among the people, and not in the touristy areas. Learn how hard the people strive just to put food on the table, just to have a place to live. Learn how many get so frustrated at how they're trapped in poverty that they lose hope...and become homeless. Learn how drugs and alcohol become an escape from the economic prison that is poverty there...and is an economic prison in America. Learn how much they love their children and want the very best for them...but become so angry because they have no real opportunity - again, no hope - for rising above their station in order to give their children better lives than they themselves had.

Do all that, and when you come back to America, chances are good that you'll understand the black community much better than you currently do.

Add to all that the realization that that they know so many Americans still to this day see them as second-class citizens...and it's a recipe for deep frustration and anger, especially among the young men. After all, when young men believe in their hearts that no one gives a damn about them, then they're a lot less likely to give a damn themselves.

If you got to know them - I mean, really, actually got to know them, you'd know that the overwhelming majority don't want your handouts. Instead, they want the opportunities their parents never had. They want to live in a nation where they are judged by their character and not by the color of their skin...again, unlike the America of their parents' youth. They want to live in a place where they have real hope of making it out of poverty without having to sell drugs to do so. In other words, they're no different from you...IF you had faced the same obstacles they've faced all their lives.

Really? Ever heard of Cairo? There were pharaohs who were black.

Do yourself a favor and read Jared Diamond's "Guns, Germs, and Steel" - it won the Pulitzer Prize. It shows in great detail how those who lived south of the Sahara and those who lived in the Western Hemisphere were screwed by their relative lack of access to trade/food/technology that Asia and Europe (and Africa north of the Sahara) took for granted. Do a bit more digging in world history and you'll find that those of us of European descent owe a great debt to the Mongols, for the relatively short-lived empire they built from Korea to Egypt to modern-day Poland...because the vast power vacuum the left in their wake allowed the Europeans to develop culture and technology of their own (along with the use of paper and gunpowder, Chinese inventions that were first introduced to Europe by the Mongols).

On top of all that, up until the fifteenth century, China was sending vast treasure fleets as far west as Africa and the Middle East. Their fleets were bigger than anything the West had before the 1800's - one had 317 ships, including the following:

Traditional and popular accounts of Zheng He's voyages have described a great fleet of gigantic ships, far larger than any other wooden ships in history.

Chinese records[84] state that Zheng He's fleet sailed as far as East Africa. According to medieval Chinese sources, Zheng He commanded seven expeditions. The 1405 expedition consisted of 27,800 men and a fleet of 62 treasure ships supported by approximately 190 smaller ships.[85][86] The fleet included:

"Chinese treasure ships" (宝船, Bǎo Chuán), used by the commander of the fleet and his deputies (nine-masted, about 127 metres (417 feet) long and 52 metres (171 feet) wide), according to later writers.[citation needed]
Equine ships (馬船, Mǎ Chuán), carrying horses and tribute goods and repair material for the fleet (eight-masted, about 103 m (338 ft) long and 42 m (138 ft) wide).
Supply ships (粮船, Liáng Chuán), containing staple for the crew (seven-masted, about 78 m (256 ft) long and 35 m (115 ft) wide).
Troop transports (兵船, Bīng Chuán), six-masted, about 67 m (220 ft) long and 25 m (82 ft) wide.
Fuchuan warships (福船, Fú Chuán), five-masted, about 50 m (160 ft) long.
Patrol boats (坐船, Zuò Chuán), eight-oared, about 37 m (121 ft) long.
Water tankers (水船, Shuǐ Chuán), with 1 month's supply of fresh water.


At the time - and for centuries afterwards - the West had nothing to compare with such fleets. What happened? China turned inward. Instead of continuing to expand, they turned inward, deciding not to interact with those nations so far over the horizon. Had they not made that decision, chances are pretty good that you and I would be having this discussion in Mandarin.

In other words, we of European descent are where we are not because we're somehow inherently better, but because we got lucky - truly, stupidly lucky.

You see much more communal thinking with jews and Asians. Barack Obama has donated a lot of his money, however only a small portion to black-based charities.

In my area, type in African American communities, I might get 1-2 hits on my map compared to Jewish communities, which shows 30-50 near me.
