Thought this was interesting, like to get some opinions...

You are sitting next to a stranger in a bar. Someone hands the stranger $100, telling both of you that if you can agree on a division of the $100 between you, you can each keep whatever you agree to.

Here are the rules:

1) The stranger must make a single offer to you for some number between $0 and $100.
2) You must then either accept or reject the offer--no haggling allowed.
3) If you accept, you split the money as agreed.
4) If you reject, neither of you gets any money.

Now here's the questions?

Would you accept $2?

Why or Why Not?
(Fairness; Justice; Something Better Than Nothing; Don’t Really Care)?

If no, what would you accept?

Why wouldn't you accept a smaller cut?

Why wouldn't you expect a bigger cut?

What would you offer if you were handed the money?

Why?

Why wouldn't you offer a bigger cut?

Why wouldn't you expect them to take a smaller cut?

man, that guy can go **** himself if he offers me anything less than $50 without a damn good reason why he needs more.
This is because I enjoy not vindicating douchebaggery more than monetary gain, at least at less than $50

And how much would you offer, oh benign lord of the galen?

No. Then as I sat next to him I would annoy him by telling him he should have said $50. I would hammer it home that he lost $50 because of his greed, while I only lost $2 which I would be well compensated for by my amusement of dogging his greedy azz. Best case scenario is that my constant, relentless badgering would lead to violence. How ever this whole money dilemma played out it would be a win for me.

I'd offer $50. If i was offered less than $50, i'd accept it and then follow the guy home, beat the (insert curse word here) out of him and then take twice as much as he kept form himself. And remeber to wear a mask.

I'd offer $50, and accept no less than $50 (unless he gives a good reason why he should have more).

What can I say? I'm a walking stereotype. I like money.

I would accept the two dollars because two dollars is better than nothing but I would be pissed about it.

I would expect a bigger cut.

I would offer them $50 dollars because I'm sure that they would accept the offer.

I would expect them to take a smaller cut but better safe than sorry like I said something is better than nothing.

If I got offered 2, I'd take it, buy myself a beer, and move on with my life.

And if I had to offer him $$, I'd offer him $25. That's a good number that I feel quite confident someone would take if it was offered to them. And then I have $75 instead of $50, so my life is 50% better.

Everyone always says they would offer $50. Why? Why not make the most out of your position of power?

I'll accept $2, if i don't accept we both get nothing, at least I get something even if the person gets the bigger cut. This won't affect or change my life, buy a beer move on.. Hopefully his conscience will work with him/her..

I don't expect a bigger cut... don't expect anything from people that way you are least likely to be disappointed by them.

I would offer 50/50 to be even, if he/she doesn't accept, my life won't be ruined, it was a gain to start off with. Easy come... easy go..

hmmm i kinda respect the nerve he has on him.

Id proberly buy him a few drinks get him nice and drunk then suggest lets go out to a club and convince him to pay for everything from then on in.

I won't accept a red cent less than fifty dollars for any reason.

Everyone is assuming that the man who makes the offer has all the power. He doesn't; if I am willing to lose whatever he offers me, then I have all the power. If he knows this, and he knows that most people will never accept less than fifty dollars, he will never be tempted to make a lesser offer in the first place.

It is the same basic premise as government: we either get the government we demand or the government we settle for. The only thing that gives others power over us is our willingness to accept raw deals.

Don't know what I'd do if you handed me the $100. Guess it depends on my impression of the other guy-- whether or not I think I can get away with demanding more.

I might be tempted to offer the whole thing. A guy who walks up to total strangers in a bar with a premise like this has got to be running a social experiment or trying to prove a point. Let him try to figure out what sort of game I'm playing.
