So what happened? Did you have to go to the hospital? Did you see the spider on you?

I know a guy who was bitten by a brown recluse. OMG, it sounded disgusting. He almost had to have his leg amputated because the bite will eat away at your skin.

Ouch...Low chance of fatality. High chance of aggravation.

The venom of the female black widow spider is 15 times as toxic as the venom of the Prairie Rattlesnake. Only a minute amount of the toxin is injected in a single bite by the spider however, so they are rarely fatal. By comparison, the relatively large amount of injected rattlesnake venom results in about 15 to 25 percent mortality among those bitten.

The bite itself is often not painful and may go unnoticed. But the poison injected by the the Black Widow bite can cause abdominal pain similar to appendicitis as well as pain to muscles or the soles of the feet. Other symptoms include alternating salivation and dry-mouth, paralysis of the diaphragm, profuse sweating and swollen eyelids.

At first I thought it was a wasp sting until I looked down and saw her sitting on my hand. I slung her to the ground and stepped on her then picked up what remained and called out for my wife to get her car keys. At the hospital they rushed me to the back and called in a Doctor who has worked with spider bites before.
The pain was about an 8 on a scale from 1 to 10. They gave me a shot of some type of muscle relaxer but it really didn’t help much. I'm talking about an all-over pain.
I don’t remember much after they put me on the morphine pump. The pain was the worst for the first 11 hours or so. After that it became less and less.

Waking up Sunday afternoon I felt like I had the hell beat out of me or something.
Every muscle in my body hurt. All I have on my hand is what looks like a small mosquito bite. Next time I will wear gloves…;)

The Dr. that treated me lost part of his thumb to a Brown Recluse.
He was the only person at the Hospital that had worked with spider bites..

Holy Moses. The description you provided sounds rather awful. I am glad you saw what bit you and that you promptly sought medical treatment.

The loss of a thumb? Poor guy.

glad yer okay, homie.
Good thing you caught it early enough.

Thanks..

Its funny cause the Doc told me he wouldn’t be giving me the anti venom because my life wasn’t in danger unlike a young person or someone older.
Basically all he did was Give me pain meds and wait it out..
My ABC's were all good.

I remember reading somewhere you can only get the anti venom one time in your life…

I bet that spider had only 24 hours to live after being infected with your blood.

Sorry bill but she died seconds after biting me from my boot.

I guess it’s a good thing you smell so bad, spiders wont come near you.
But on the other hand you will always have your roaches and flies..;)
