When I was a teen, I did. As a card-carrying Bircher, I firmly believed that the Trilateral Commission and the Council on Foreign Relations would conspire to deliver the USA to the Soviets no later than 1989. I'm still waiting .....
Since about 1994, conspiracy theories have annoyed me. We might be sliding into an amoral socialist society, but it could be a result of the natural tendency of deteriorating towards chaos. It's just like if you built a house in 1960 and didn't maintain it, it would fall apart and there would be no vandals to blame. If you want to get religious about it, it could be the natural tendency for society to slide further and further towards chaos as the end times draw nearer and nearer.

The Soviets went elsewhere to achieve their utopia. Environmentalism, race relations, civil rights for perverts. etc.

I never did.

While some conspiracies undoubtedly exist to some extent, any involving a large enough number of people would eventually be exposed to the public. Social entropy is a sufficient explanation.

Wow, it only took 3 posts for this thread to go to the dogs.

Robert Welch was a brilliant man - watch his 1958 speech and you'd think you were watching a prophet.

As for where we are now, to use your house analogy - the house is crumbling today b/c of the work done by the Establishment in the 30's, 40's, and 50's. Erode the foundation, and the house will crumble. Like most things, follow the money.

The Establishment/Insiders/Money Trust/International Bankers began sewing the seeds of our destruction decades before the street radicals (a pincer attack known as revolutionary parliamentarianism) started rising up on the college campuses in the 60's. Most of the Establishments evil work was done thru the Foundation system that they set up as the flip side of the Income Tax coin in 1913.

The TLC and CFR aren't "conspiratorial" per se - their evil foreign affairs agenda is right out in the open. Read Foreign Affairs and it is a road map for what is to come. The TLC is obvious isn't it?? Attack sovereignty, divide the world into thirds as a precursor to consolidating everything under the UN. I will say that not everything has gone according to plan though... it is difficult to micromanage every human being on the planet... the old adage of the foolishness of a land war in asia, lol...

In total though, yes the Birch Society has been largely correct - the fact that we are collapsing today is proof enough of how successful the Establishment has been in crafting our demise.

Where I have changed is to follow the positive principles to preserve liberty. I don't buy the conspiracy theories anymore, but do I support most of the JBS agenda as a defense against ordinary deterioration against the principles of liberty.

What JBS lays out is based on how oligarchies work - it is history over and over again. As far as "conspiracy" goes, none of this is a secret - it simply isn't given any coverage in the MSM and has been cleansed from the history books. In that sense it is conspiratorial.

But again, the machinations of any garden variety oligarchy are conspiratorial in nature.

Our Constitution was designed to be an anti-oligarchical bulwark against conspirators that would seek to first gain control of the reins of power, and then use their position to expand governmental power, and with it their own personal power. Sadly, that has failed - and what we are seeing is entirely predictable. Certainly our Founding Fathers thought in conspiratorial terms, and every freedom loving individual in the world should as well. It isn't a matter of being "paranoid", it is simply a matter of understanding history and how people within an oligarchy will predictably behave.

It is naive not to understand that there are people who will always seek to deceive the masses and harness the power of government for their own gain - to the detriment of the masses.

We are in the final stages of collapse - that is not an accident.
