I have been on the road the last several days so I have not had the chance to watch the Republican national convention. From what I have read, however, I get the sense that the media are troubled that Melania Trump might have lifted a phrase or two from Michelle Obama. Michelle seems an unlikely source of inspiration. As the late Christopher Hitchens once said of Michelle's Princeton thesis, “To describe it as hard to read would be a mistake; the thesis cannot be ‘read’ at all, in the strict sense of the verb. This is because it wasn't written in any known language.”

But my gripe isn't with Michelle. It is with her husband. During the 2008 campaign I read Barack Obama's alleged 1995 masterpiece, Dreams from My Father, and came to a startling conclusion. This conclusion was later confirmed by celebrity biographer Christopher Andersen, namely that "literary devices and themes [in Dreams] bear a jarring similarity to [Bill] Ayers’ own writings.” Did they ever.

It seems that shortly before getting into the revolution business, Bill Ayers took a job as a merchant seaman. “I’d thought that when I signed on that I might write an American novel about a young man at sea,” says Ayers in his 2001 memoir, Fugitive Days, “but I didn’t have it in me.”

Obviously the MSM has focused on the speeches given at the RNC Convention the last few days. They've ripped apart Melania's, Donald Trump Jr's, and nearly each of the speakers there. In actuality the Progressive Socialist Left desperate and soiling their garments over the strength within the RNC Convention. First rule of politics in today's Lame Stream Media is, 'It's only wrong when the Republicans do it'. The Second rule of today's politics in today's media, whatever else Republicans do, it is wrong. How quickly they want to forget and bury in deep memory holes the overt plagiarism of Barack Hussein Obama in 2008 when he used DeVal Patrick's speech almost verbatim, or Michelle Obama's speech using Stephen R. Covey's book, "The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People". But hey, that's what's it all about. How quickly people are prepared to throw rocks forgetting the also live in glass houses.
Let us not forget Obama's "composite" characters that appear in his non fiction book declared "composite" ONLY when discovered to be a lie that was ghost written by the guy Obama supposedly vaguely knowns, Bill Ayers.
Here is a man that must make up people from his past and we STILL have no one who remembers his youth, neither childhood friends, no one remembers his birth, no girl friends, no college roommates, no transcripts, nothing but a hidden past and a fake auto biography.

Nope, you are the first one.

None so blatantly as Barack Obama. The Deval Patrick plagiarism isn't the only one Obama has pulled off while the biased Lame Stream Media covers for him.

You're absolutely right! That is, as long as you don't ask those who were his childhood friends, his teachers, and his classmates.

But don't forget that he's the one who screwed up the government's response to Hurricane Katrina, too! And he's a Muslim that's under the control of a "Christian" pastor! And he wasn't born in Honolulu no matter what the local newspapers said on the day he was born (and that's even if we ignore his birth certificate)!

You do realize that Patrick was working for Obama's campaign and gave him permission to crib from him, yes?

I guess that Deval Patrick forgot to give Barry a permission slip. Plagiarism is rampant between conspirators. There no ethics within the Democratic Party. Just ask Hillary and Joe Biden.

Can't you see that Obama supporters don't care about ethics? And Hillary supporters can't possibly. Why they would want to argue about ethics is beyond me.

Yes, actually I did, and posted this clip in another thread.

They only complain when they think it's someone else doing it. But you are correct Obama and Hillary supporters have no ethics.

Just the usual Biased Lame Stream Media putting their thumbs on the scales of public opinion for their favored candidate and ideology.

So nothing new or honest here.

Even if that were the case, I don't see any plagiarism. They both used famous quote from the past. So what? Talk about desperation!

The interesting thing is that Obama lifting quotes word for word from Patrick's speech is that the plagiarism and accusation was first made public by the Hillary Clinton campaign in 2008. It didn't work well for her as we know now.

Obama subsequently said he was very wrong to not credit Patrick for those words, and yes, they were Patrick's. Patrick apparently suggested to Obama that he use similar words, but never told Obama to copy him word for word as he did.

The Vice President's plagiarism was even worse.

Even if that were the case, I don't see any plagiarism. They both used famous quote from the past. So what? Talk about desperation!

Bloomberg’s Heilemann: Melania Plagiarism Worse than Biden, Obama
melania trump | plagiarism | rnc speech | blame | obama
On today’s Morning Joe, Heilemann argued that Biden and Obama’s plagiarism wasn’t as bad, because they ripped off fellow liberals:
"Is There Nothing a Liberal Does that the MSM Won’t Find Some Way to Defend?"

Yeah. Same old dishonest ****.
Liberal / Democrat - anything goes, all is acceptable.
Conservative / Republican - held to a higher standard

The quote above makes it blatantly clear the new and high levels of hypocrisy in both the Biased Lame Stream Media as well as the Liberals / Democrats.

OP
Thanks for the post. imo, most politicians utilize phrases from the past.

Of course they do. Phrases such as, "my word is my bond", aren't exactly copyrighted material..

This is boring. Let's talk about how he's actually secretly from Kenya instead.

You do realize that Patrick was working for Obama's campaign and gave him permission to crib from him, yes?

And this is supposed to mitigate the fact that Obama plagiarized the speech? He could not come up with something of his own?

It means it wasn't plagiarized.

Did he quote the entire speech without crediting the original author? No? Then it is plagiarism pure and simple.

He had permission.

So stated after the fact which still does not make it acceptable to plagiarize, unless you are a democrat of course.

They only complain when they think it's someone else doing it. But you are correct Obama and Hillary supporters have no ethics.

And you know this how? That is rather a broad statement, no different than claiming Trump supporters are from the lower level on education, oh wait, that one may have substance.

If you have permission it's not plagiarism.

If you have permission it's not plagiarism.

It is plagiarism if you use the material prior to having permission and don't cite a source. Even if you are Obama or one of his sheep.
