Did anyone notice or pick up on the announcement out of Washington regarding the Ethics Committee?

If you have no idea what I am talking about, don't feel bad - the announcement was run once yesterday on Fox and CNN and then only for about 30 seconds, I guess so that the American people would not take notice of the criminals in Washington taking care of their own.

As you may recall, the Ethics Committee has not met in quite a long time due to disagreements between Democrats and Republican about rules pertaining to the committee. The House ethics panel has been gridlocked since January 2005 because of partisan disputes over its rules, staff and procedures. In the meantime, ethical questions have arisen about DeLay; Ney, who had to step down as House Administration Committee chairman because he is also caught up in the Abramoff scandal; and Jefferson, who is under investigation in a bribery case. A former aide to Jefferson has pleaded guilty in that case.

Another story states that the list of Representatives who have used the stalemate to commit a laundry list of ethics violations has actually become quite long. Representatives that have found their way onto the stack of ethics violations/charges to be investigated include Pelosi, Reid, Durbin, Murtha, Feingold, Frist, Delay, Kerry, Hillary, and quite a few other names that many people will not recognize.

The House ethics committee, inactive for more than a year because of these partisan disputes, "has declined to launch investigations of Rep. Tom DeLay, R-Texas, and other lawmakers accused of ethical lapses." Basically the House Ethics Committee was able to come to one Bi-Partisan decision, and that was to Whitewash/erase the ethics violations/charges of both Republicans and Democrats that have piled up!

So much for trusting these clowns to police themselves! :doh
