DHS draft document: White supremacists are greatest terror threat

White supremacists present the gravest terror threat to the United States, according to a draft report from the Department of Homeland Security. Two later draft versions of the same document — all of which were reviewed by POLITICO — describe the threat from white supremacists in slightly different language. But all three drafts describe the threat from white supremacists as the deadliest domestic terror threat facing the U.S., listed above the immediate danger from foreign terrorist groups. “Foreign terrorist organizations will continue to call for Homeland attacks but probably will remain constrained in their ability to direct such plots over the next year,” all three documents say. Russia “probably will be the primary covert foreign influence actor and purveyor of disinformation and misinformation in the Homeland,” the documents also say.

None of the drafts POLITICO reviewed referred to a threat from Antifa, the loose cohort of militant left-leaning agitators who senior Trump administration officials have described as domestic terrorists. Two of the drafts refer to extremists trying to exploit the “social grievances” driving lawful protests.John Cohen, who oversaw DHS’s counterterrorism portfolio from 2011 to 2014, said the drafts’ conclusion isn’t surprising. “This draft document seems to be consistent with earlier intelligence reports from DHS, the FBI, and other law enforcement sources: that the most significant terror-related threat facing the US today comes from violent extremists who are motivated by white supremacy and other far-right ideological causes,” he said.

Odd. Trump and Attorney General William Barr never ever remark that the gravest domestic terror threats facing the US emanate from white-supremacy groups like the Boogaloo Bois.

They only talk exclusively of Antifa and Black Lives Matter, two groups not even mentioned in the DHS terrorist assessment.

Antifa and BLM are not his voters so Trump and Barr go after them. White SUpremacy groups are his voter so Barr and others know not to mention them in a negative way.

Pretty sure we've known this for some time now.

Antifa will probably make it onto the radar though, but they're sort of a new thing. We've been dealing with White Supremacists since the start.

BLM is mostly a protest, so I don't think that would ever rise to anything. The riots and looting are not part of the BLM protests, and likely are far more likely to be Antifa and their white supremacist counterparts creating chaos than in is actual protesters.

White supremacists are greatest terror threat

for like many decades, even.

Well, white supremacists have taken over half the Federal government, so yeah, I'd say they're a bit of a threat.

If North Korea executed a military invasion of the United States and made it all the way to Illinois, I don't think we'd be saying, "Gee, I wonder if these guys are a threat."
