Despite claiming to only be concerned about illegals, the Trump GOP targeted and reduced all legal means of arriving here, too, for example crashing lawful entry on asylum from about 70k/year to about 15k/year. Of course you're going to see a return when Biden undoes stuff like the fight against people arriving here lawfully. We'd just artificially slashed the amount of lawful asylum seekers admitted, because some people are terrified of whites becoming a minority by population.

But you have to wonder what kind of person looks at this situation and thinks "damn, we better resume ripping children from parents and deporting the parents without tracking them, to make sure nobody else seeks asylum". . . .



If we want to do something about this, we need to cut off the reason for anyone to come here unlawfully: availability of employment. Ramped up national e-verify, ramped up enforcement against employers of illegals with penalties for employing them so great they cannot be considered a cost of business. Better monitoring/check-ins of visa holders to reduce overstays. We're never going to completely eliminate illegal immigration, but you'd certainly make a large dent by getting rid of one main incentive.

Agreed. But they are actually having a surge of illegals entering, 100,000 in February. Information about how things are being done at the border is so contradictory and confusing that I'm not sure, but it seems all those coming in without claiming asylum are causing a problem. They're apparently still being detained?

Maybe President Biden should have thought this through more and had the resources to make those changes in place before hurriedly erasing T****'s policies. T**** did the same thing and we damned him for it.
