ATLANTA (SI.com) -- Dale Earnhardt Jr. will compete Sunday in a NASCAR race in New Hampshire, despite suffering second-degree burns to his legs and face in a fiery wreck last weekend, his friend said Monday.

"He's absolutely going to race," friend Marty Smith, a senior writer for NASCAR.com., told CNN. "He's going to be in the No. 8 car next weekend."
