Dennis Farina Dead at 69.....

Dennis Farina, a Chicago native and police officer who turned to acting, has died at 69 in Arizona, his publicist said today.

Farina, best known as detective Joe Fontana on the long-running TV series "Law & Order," suffered a blood clot in his lung, publicist Lori De Waal said.

Farina was an 18-year veteran of the Chicago Police Department, a detective who moonlighted on Chicago theater stages and in small movie roles. In the 1980s he was on the NBC television series "Crime Story."

He then became one of the stars of "Law & Order," playing tough, nattily dressed Detective Joe Fontana.

After graduating from high school, Farina decided to "get the Army out of the way" and served three years before returning to Chicago. He worked for a while at the South Water produce market until, on the advice of his older brother, a lawyer, he joined the police force and studied criminal justice at Truman Junior College.

The actor is survived by his three sons, six grandchildren and the love of his life of 35 years, Marianne Cahill.....snip~

Ex Chgo Cop.....He also Starred in Code of Silence with Chuck Norris. They did the film in Chicago and under Wacker drive. Also did Crime Story with Andrew Dice Clay.

R.I.P. Dennis.

Dang. Another one gone.... :(

RIP.
People die every day, so what? Why recognize this one person when thousands go unnoticed?

Please go peddle that tripe elsewhere.

Don't want to acknowledge someone's passing, that's fine, just don't bother posting in the thread.

He was in the bar scene and Chuck's partner in Code of Silence. Although Chuck don't come into the bar until afterwards.

Wasn't considered a big Hollywood star but I always liked how he worked his roles. I appreciated his entertainment. I never realized he was a cop at one time. Thanks Dennis
Great minds think alike Cal.....Sorry I didn't see you put this up. Maybe we can get a Mod to merge the threads. I threw up a video of with him in it when he did Code of Silence with Chuck Norris.

He passes and Kate gives birth to a baby boy ... Coincidence?

Coincidence or not, RIP ... good actor, have no idea if he was a decent man, but married that long, probably was ...

Survivors include sons Dennis, Michael and Joseph and six grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The 100 Club of Chicago, which provides for the families of police officers, firefighters and paramedics who have lost their lives in the line of duty. Funeral services are pending.

It's an honest question, sorry you don't have an honest answer.

When you have a clue about what I do or do not acknowledge, or when you care to formulate an honest question rather than an attempt of a Chihuahua nipping at my ankles, you may have something worthwhile to ask.

Until then, don't bother.

You just keep on going around in circles, demonstrating that you don't have an answer for a perfectly valid question. It's okay, we know it's the best you can do.

What is your problem?

Someone who is known to the public dies, another actor that provided good entertainment, and I acknowledge his passing. What the hell is your issue with that?

Perhaps questions of this sort are best addressed to those who worship at the seat of Hollywood and feel that an entertainer provides valid insight in to political situations. I acknowledge someone who did their job, and IMO, did it well.

And apparently, this is the best you can do. You must be a little light on truly important things to discuss today?

Hear hear!

Anyway, I always liked the guy. He had sort of a "man's man" look to him. Plus, a mustache any self-respecting man would kill for.

That's how I feel about all those thousand you were talking about. I threw up the thread on it.....as I knew Chicago Cops that knew him. As well as myself seeing him on the streets. Word always was that Farina was a straight up guy. Plus he was IMO a good supporting actor with whatever he did. So naturally I would think of this guy over thousands that I don't care about.

Course it really don't bother me if people give a **** or not.

Also.....you may not care when you die. Doesn't mean people who knew you.....don't care or do care. Only they can say so, as none can think or speak for them. Not even you.

Re: Thanks Dennis RIP

I like his show Crime Story from the early 90s much better than Law and Order.

I believe that. I also believe that you don't care about others.

Which is strange, because based on your actions, you DO care that other people care.
