The Prime Minister of this Scandinavian country proposes to discuss the completion of the pipeline again and, possibly, cancel the permit for it:

I have been against Nord Stream 2 throughout the entire time. I believe that we should not become dependent on Russian gas." Denmark may revoke construction permit for Nord Stream 2

Why would Denmark do that? Didn't get their cut?

I'm sure they did get their cut, and now they're probably using the Navalny business to try to squeeze a bit more out of the deal.

Ultimately Denmark is a feeble country with no real clout, especially with their superior neighbour - in fact they're the weak end of north Germany.

Cheka, NKVD, KGB, FSB is the same organization with different names , much like Muscovy , "russian" empire , RSFSR and "RF" practically is exactly the same Genghisid despotic vertical Mongol tyranny

I would like to see a world-wide boycott of Russian fossil fuels until the thug Putin withdraws to his borders and ceases his assault on Western Democracies. He is vulnerable and we need to deprive him of the cash to build his "doomsday" weapon.

Your inability to understand the real historical names of people, organizations and countries is always a source of amusement and begs to be mocked.

And vertical government isn't what the Mongols practiced. Had you any knowledge of the Mongols you would know that.

Muscovy was different from the Russian Tsardom. Which morphed into the Russian Empire after Russia kicked all the Khanates asses. The USSR was a completely different form of government and the Republic that followed different from that.

Speaking of despotic veritcal tyrannies that describes the Lithuanians into the late 1800s.

While they stopped imports from one Russian company the rail cars keep rolling for the rest of Russian fuels.
 
This Nord Stream II pipeline is dead underwater. The calls by governments are increasing to kill it and to punish Putin for the Navalny assassination attempt with sanctions against NS 2 and Russia itself given state controlled Gazprom owns the whole of the project.

More US sanctions Trump will sign target any third construction company that would inspect a completed NS 2 to report to German Authorities on certification. An independent third party construction company is a EU requirement for certification. That's getting way ahead of the present moment however in which NS 2 has yet to submit an updated workorder to Danish authorities for their approval as required by law. In other words the pipeline slud into home yet there it is stopped short of touching the plate, ie, home base.

Nord Stream 2 appears to be a loser in every way a pipeline can. Nord Stream 2 ties Germany closer to Russia, puts more money in the pockets of Gazprom, increases incentives for Russian President Vladimir Putin to ratchet up his environmentally unsound natural gas drilling in and transporting from the Arctic, gives Russia more ability to blackmail the West using its natural gas weapon, cuts out Western-leaning countries in Eastern Europe from needed revenue, and keeps money and investment out of the United States where it could go via exports from the Marcellus Shale deposits.


Mainly for political reasons, Russia hardly is a reliable energy source. It certainly is not an environmentally conscious one. Instead of making Germany more self-reliant and a world clean energy leader, Energiewende [Energy Transition] actually drove Germany further into the arms of Russia. In addition, it otherwise thwarted Germany’s goal of a rapid renewable energy transition. As always, reasonable people can argue about the wisdom of building new fossil fuel infrastructure when we hope to switch to renewables. However, given the current state of scientific knowledge and of world affairs, failure to do so also has real world adverse environmental, economic and political consequences.

No they won't. If they did, the pipeline would just be relocated away from Danish waters. This "threat" has been floating around the Internet for years and has no real merit. The Danish media nor politicians have more important things to talk about.

I agree Denmark won't revoke the Nord Stream permit. Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen hasn't said Denmark would revoke it.

Frederiksen said she wants to "discuss" the project and Navalny -- and it's common knowledge Merkel has to be the EU leader to lead against Russia on this. Slow as Merkel is on it Merkel has come around to hassling Putin over Navalny, which includes likely sanctions against both the pipeline and Russia now that the Italian PM Conte said publicly yesterday he'd make the sanctions vote by the EC unanimous which is the requirement.

Denmark has approved every aspect of Nord Stream II laying pipe in the Danish EEZ and Gazprom has made each of several adjustments required by Copenhagen. After US sanctions came Denmark approved Gazprom's petition to allow slow as cold molasses drop anchor pipelaying ships, which is all Russia has, after Swiss Allseas fled the sanctions with its Dynamic Positioning Navigation ships that continue in motion whey they lay pipe and chart the pipe.


It's also not to easy for Gazprom to relocate the pipeline away from Danish waters due to cost, time, other counties whose EEZ might be affected, one Russian clunker pipelaying ship the Cherskiy and US sanctions both "old" begun in December and "new" coming online as soon as Trump gets the enacted legislation in its final form as agreed by the Senate-House Conference Committee that's burning the midnight oil to wrap it up.

The bottom line here is that Putin's going to have to grovel to get anything while getting sanctions anyway because he's never going to admit to being the death merchant of poisons.

you ´d google international laws around Baltic sea , I am 99% sure that there is no other way thats why Nordstream waited 2 years the green light from D.
