I am so sick of hearing the Tea Party this, the Tea Party that. Look in the mirror. This thing isn't partisan by any stretch. Blame goes both ways. The Senate wasn't even in their chambers until the late in the afternoon of shutdown day. They refuse to even vote on things placed in front of them. The Dems have repeatedly shot down any attempt by the House to negotiate. The House has even tried to piecemeal things over to fund portions of the gov't. The Dems have taken the stance of all or nothing. There is give and take that could occur on both sides. However, despite what many liberals on this website would have us believe, it isn't just one side.

In case some of you forgot, the Dems (and some RINOs) created this entire climate. Why is the Tea Party even there? Why did they all of a sudden become popular? They existed way before Pres Obama was elected to POTUS so you can't use racism or some other off base reason for it. It's because your party took what was an already out of control, fiscally irresponsible gov't to a new level of irresponsibility. The people spoke. You got your 2 years of spend, spend, spend. You got your bogus healthcare law that your top leaders (Pelosi) admit they didn't even read. You got everything you wanted. Now, you're paying the piper. The American people, particularly the most conservative of us, had already been jaded by Bush. He spoke of small gov't. He spoke of peace. He didn't deliver. Then, we got Hope and Change. Nothing changed (except for the deficit/debt at massive levels and drone strikes) and hope decreased. That was 2008. In 2010, at the first opportunity for the people to speak, they spoke in droves. The Tea Party swept in due to the irresponsibility of the Democrats. They lost their majority in the House. Why? Because the people were tired of it. They got 2 years of an Obama gov't and didn't like it. This is how our gov't was built to work. That all people could be represented. Not just massive population centers like NYC or LA. All parts of the country can have a say whether rural and southern or urban and northern. The Tea Party has spread now to 36 states. It isn't just some redneck movement that some of you think it is. Yes, even California has a Tea Partier. Deal with it guys. Its the way it is. It's the counter liberal agenda. You had your turn.

I'm sick of hearing from the right Tea Party this and Tea Party that and then when you call that crap out they deny their existence because "it's not a real party".

Trying to have no cake and eat it too.

If the Dems looked in the mirror they wouldn't see themselves being bullied by a small faction of newly elected extremists in their own party like Boehner and other GOP moderates are. So yes indeed, the Dems are refusing to be bullied by those same extremists in the GOP into dismantling the legitimately created and passed legislation that they fought and were democratically elected for. So if the Dems are refusing to negotiate away Obamacare in order to pass the debt ceiling bill, then it's probably because they shouldn't have been put into that position in the first place. The fact that they are was a deliberate and calculated, devious, plot that was planned months in advance by the very same Tea Party extremists that have not only denied that Obamacare is a legitimate law upheld by the constitution, but deny that Obama is even the duly elected president. Your party has some serious issues, but thats not the fault of the Dems..it's the fault of the people who voted to put the tea party into office and that would be people like you, Tpartier. So instead of whining and playing the victim, why don't you take personal responsibilty and admit that your party lost the election and call your elected dogs off and let the country get to back to business and living their lives without all the ****ing drama?

Make you a deal: democrats will stop complaining about the Tea party as soon as republicans and Tea Partiers stop complaining about democrats. Fair is fair after all.

Or at least, for the love of Pete, stop calling the Democrats "socialists." Calling the modern Democratic party "socialists" is like calling your pants a shirt.

The dems have no need to whine about the Tea Party because the GOP is whining about them enough.

Here we have a handful, nay, LESS than a handful of whacko extremists in congress that has America by the nutsack with one hand and strangling it by the throat, with the other.

There has to be some kind of punishment for these type of politicians. Can't actually call what they are doing treason, but there has to be some criminal terminology for it.

America is taking notice. And the good republicans are now afraid for their party as well as their own careers. The GOP has been hijacked. The democrats and the ACA are the LEAST of their worries right now.

and how is this less than a handful doing this? Do they not need more than less than a handful of votes?

The Unthinking Left it would seem has given up on making their narrative at least appear to make any sense....

The Republicans need to stop playing the victim card so much. Come up with someone better then McCain and Romney, show the American people that you care for the least in our society, stop spending money on other countries and spend it on our country. Stop blaming others for your failures. Take responsibility then you might be able to win some elections.

I dunno. I get a chuckle out of watching all the whining, crying, and hysteria. I consider it free entertainment, and the more vociferous it is, the more effective the tea partiers actually are. It's hilarious.

The Tea Party has been very effective at allowing the Democrats to maintain control of the Senate.

Doesn't make any difference to me. I find the dems crying about the tea partiers to be hilarious.

I think you're confusing crying with laughter at how stupid most of them are.

The OP mentioned that the Tea Party had spread to California. You what happened after they took over the local Republican party? The alienated voters so badly, that democrats now literally control the entire state legislature and governorship with a 2/3 majority in both houses. The Republicans have literally no influence at the state level, they can't even filibuster.

The democrats are thrilled that the tea party is handing them elections and destroying the Republican brand. You see the liberal partisan hacks crowing about it all the time on this forum. I'm an independent, I really don't want one party rule from anyone. I want sensible candidates from parties so I can legitimately pick the most capable. I"m sick of voting for democratic candidates that I don't even like because their Republican opposition is simply nuts.

Did the Dems shut down the government until the Bush and the Repubs agreed not to attack Iraq? Yeah, I guess I missed that.

Dems aren't "refusing to negotiate away Obamacare". They are refusing to negotiate anything.

The Dems agreed to negotiate on the budget, but the Repubs have refused to do it for six months. Both sides agree the debt ceiling needs to be raised....so what is there to negotiate?

Look at it this way.....

Suppose a democrat controlled congress refused to fund the entire government and let it shut down unless a Republican president and senate agreed to their terms on gun control. Who do you think the country would blame for that?

There it is... the nanny state mentality. The government's job is not to wipe the nose and change the diapers for people. It's there to run the country and provide a framework of law that empowers us to engage in trade and pursue happiness. It's not there to "care for you". You are supposed to care for yourself. Your friends and relatives are supposed to care for you. The government was not meant to be nor should be our "caregiver".

The Senate and the Executive branch are two thirds of the government. It is not the American way to let a minority fascist faction in one party of the house hold the entire country hostage until their demands are met. If you really believed in America you wouldn't be taking it from a super power and turning it into a banana republic.

Im pretty sure I have more stake in this game than most on this website. I'm the one who stood to lose his paycheck on Oct 1st and still has his paycheck for Oct 15th in flux. Im the one who is 9 hours away at an official school and won't have his mileage, food, or anything else paid for to get home and oh by the way, that school is now cancelled so that means I spent 5 weeks away from my family only to come home empty handed. I'm the one receiving emergency health care only. So don't preach to me about some friggin "back to business" crap. Back to business to you means getting to go to the friggin national park down the road. Back to business to me means my training operation I was supposed to have in 2 weeks isn't cancelled. Back to business to me means I don't have to dig into my savings to pay for something the Marine Corps should be paying for. Back to business to me means that I have to leave for another 7 weeks to make up for this school I'm not graduating from. I'm well aware of the stakes here. And yet, I'm still willing to bet it all to reign in this gov't. What are you willing to bet?
Further, my post was in no way playing a victim card. If you notice in the very first paragraph of it, I said
This thing isn't partisan by any stretch. Blame goes both ways
and
There is give and take that could occur on both sides.
. I firmly believe, as I have stated on numerous threads, that the Tea Party has made it's point and could back off now without losing face or votes. I think they should demand every stipulation be fulfilled minus the Obamacare delay/defund portion. This would satisfy both sides IMO.

Lol. Come on Redress. You know that's not going to happen. I'm just stating that, in regards to this particular issue, I'm tired of hearing about it. The HOJ's of the world are posting what seems to be a thread an hour about this stuff and no one seemed to be posting anything to rebut it.

That's because it's largely useless to argue with a sockpuppet. Someone needs to chime in from time to time in the barrage of partisan nonsense and remind folks that's just what it is. But other then that, all we can do is ignore the spew.
