Known as HR 1 or what Democrats are calling the For the People Act, the bill would make sweeping changes to the country's federal voting system and promote automatic voter registration, internet registration and early voting, as well as prohibit states from restricting a voter's ability to cast mail-in ballots. The legislation would also seek to bolster election security by imposing changes like requiring voting systems to be tested at least nine months before any federal election.
The legislation makes broad campaign finance reforms like barring contributions from businesses that have significant foreign influence and "requires super PACs, 501(c)(4) groups and other organizations spending money in elections to disclose donors who contribute more than $10,000." It also imposes ethics rules on Congress and the executive branch.

This part I agree with, as I have advocated for the return of ALL right's once a person convicted of a crime has completed their sentence:

subtitle E—Democracy Restoration SEC. 1402. Rights of citizens.

The right of an individual who is a citizen of the United States to vote in any election for Federal office shall not be denied or abridged because that individual has been convicted of a criminal offense unless such individual is serving a felony sentence in a correctional institution or facility at the time of the election.

I am still reading the rest, but the above has been a long time in coming as far as I am concerned...too long.

I agree it is time to extend federal voting rights to people with felony conviction but what does this bill have to do with the title of your thread?

We need to find a way to assure Americans that it is not possible for crooks to vote in different precincts in the same election. Extending early voting periods is ripe for those kinds of abuses. Just saying nothing needs to be done because nothing like that is occurring is not very assuring, especially given all the reports of such abuses each election period. Where there is smoke there could be fire.

Allowing internet registration and then mail-in ballots is the perfect system for fraud. There is never a face nor anyone to even try to convict for fraudulent voting. Anyone would register non-existent people as fast as possible, given no ID is required for voter registration in most states and obviously would not be for mail-in ballots.

I need to provide evidence that it would be good to secure our elections in a way that gives Americans greater confidence that no voter fraud is taking place?
